Job Summary : The QA Supervisor position in Elk Grove, CA involves providing support to the Director of QA, Food Safety & Sanitation in implementing and enforcing Food Safety Programs.
The role includes planning and overseeing the development, application, and maintenance of quality standards. Working under the guidance of the Director of QA, Food Safety & Sanitation, the QA Supervisor assists in evaluating food quality and safety, as well as implementing initiatives to enhance product quality, safety, and consistency.
This position also facilitates employee training and provides leadership in the areas of quality and food safety. The QA Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring compliance with SQF regulations.
Education & Experience :
A bachelor's degree in food science or a related field, or at least 5 years of experience in QA.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the food manufacturing industry.
Familiarity with USDA, FDA, or CA Dept. of Food & Agriculture guidelines / requirements.
Preference for being SQF Certified Practitioner and having related experience
Experience working with Kosher, Organic, and AIB programs.
At least 1 to 2 years of experience in a leadership role.
Trainings / Certifications Required :
Preferably certified in HARPC / PCQI
Preferably certified in SQF Implementation & Auditing
Preferably trained in SQF Internal Auditing
Essential Functions / Duties and Responsibilities :
1.Provide support to the Director of QA, Food Safety & Sanitation in various QA activities as needed.
2.Ensure adherence to all company rules, policies, and procedures.
3.Supervise, train, discipline, and coach the QA staff as necessary.
4.Conduct formal and informal performance appraisals for employees, providing continuous feedback.
5.Oversee policies related to raw materials.
6.Implement and enforce the Food Safety Program, including Metal Detection.
7.Perform annual reviews of the SQF Program, Food Safety Plans, and Prerequisite Programs to ensure compliance.
8.Implement and enforce the Weight Control Program.
9.Implement and enforce the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Program.
10.Ensure compliance with third-party standards (such as SQF, AIB, NSF, QAI, Non-GMO, etc.) to achieve excellent results.
11.Maintain organized and up-to-date QA records.
12.Enforce adherence to Product Specifications.
13.Administer the outside lab samples program.
14.Implement and enforce effective Preoperational Inspections to ensure proper cleaning and sanitation of equipment.
15.Implement and enforce the "Hold and Release Program".
16.Implement and enforce the Pest Control Program.
17.Implement and enforce the Recall Program.
18.Manage Quality Assurance / Control Processes and Procedures, creating and implementing as necessary.
19.Conduct audits of the plant's operations.
20.Perform product testing (Physical, Microbiological & Chemical).
21.Cultivate an open and relaxed atmosphere to encourage employee creativity and motivation.
22.Ensure compliance with product-handling requirements.
23.Audit and enforce policies and procedures on the production floor to ensure SQF compliance.
24.Administer the chemicals labeling policy.
25.Promote and enforce a strong safety culture, reporting and addressing unsafe acts and conditions as necessary.
26.Educate employees on the costs associated with improper materials handling to stress the importance of careful practices at all times.
27.Motivate, manage, and communicate effectively with personnel.
28.Maintain positive and professional employee relations.
29.Promote teamwork among departments and at all levels of the organization.
30.Assist the Director of QA, Food Safety & Sanitation in developing and updating job descriptions.
31.Be familiar with Maintenance Department procedures and submit work orders as needed.
32.Assist the Production Department as necessary.
33.Perform any other assigned duties.
