PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Job Routing Development : Create and maintain detailed job routings for the manufacturing of rotating equipment. Analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to develop accurate and efficient routings.
Define and document the sequence of operations for core processes including welding, machining, assembly, and outside processing.
Estimate cycle times based on past jobs, experiences, and working with shop-floor operators.
Process Optimization : Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and job routings to identify opportunities for improvement.
Implement process changes to enhance efficiency, reduce cycle times, and minimize costs. Utilize Lean Manufacturing principles and techniques to streamline operations and eliminate waste.
Collaboration and Communication : Work closely with design engineers and manufacturing engineers to ensure manufacturability of new products.
Coordinate with production supervisors and team leaders to address any routing-related issues. Liaise with purchasing department on external vendors for outside processing requirements and ensure quality and timeliness of outsourced work.
Documentation and Control : Maintain up-to-date and accurate routing documentation in the manufacturing information system.
Ensure all changes to job routings are documented and communicated effectively. Monitor and control job routing records to comply with company policies and industry standards.
Quality Assurance : Ensure that job routings incorporate necessary quality control steps and inspections. Collaborate with the quality team to address any issues related to process compliance and product quality.
Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions for any process deviations or non-conformities.
Continuous Improvement : Lead or participate in continuous improvement projects aimed at process optimization and cost reduction.
Conduct regular reviews of job routings and make adjustments based on feedback and performance data. Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in manufacturing technology and processes.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- 5 yrs experience in a similar technical role at a manufacturing company in lieu of degree.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or production planning, preferably in a rotating equipment manufacturing environment.
Preference to job-shop or ETO environments.
Experience with manufacturing information systems and quick-learner with ERP software.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to pass a drug screen & background check.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office & ERP Systems, especially proficient in the use of Excel.
- Will be an ERP super-user and computer acumen is needed to succeed.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including welding, fabrication, machining, assembly, and outside processing.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities. Self-motivated.

- Occasional lifting of materials and equipment up to 25 pounds.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Job is primarily in an office environment, working on a computer, with regular visits to the shop floor.
