Job Description
Performs a variety of duties in and around the buildings of the hospital complex to assist the tradesmen and other workmen in completing their tasks.
Repairs and maintains machinery, mechanical equipment, and perform specific projects as assigned. Able to perform electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry repairs such as : repair and replace plumbing fixtures and associated piping, add repair electrical circuitry, troubleshoot and repair HVAC equipment and controls, able to perform and manage minor construction projects.
Able to perform plastering, bricklaying or concrete work as needed. Assists in other areas of the department such as boiler room, construction projects, or pipe fitter as needed.
Picks up various supplies, parts, and building materials and deliver to appropriate location as required. Checks all lighting in and around the hospital buildings and grounds on a regular basis.
Replaces bulbs / tubes as needed and / or makes necessary repairs to the fixtures, repairs various types of electrical cords as needed, clean fixtures on a regular basis.
Plunges toilets and drains when necessary. Repairs patient electrical and mechanical beds and stretchers. Inspects, maintains and cleans heat traps and strainers, exhaust fans, fan motors, electric pumps and motors.
Replaces fan belts and / or adjust as necessary, solders, brazes and welds material, repairs gas and oxygen leaks, inspects and safety checks dietary equipment.
Maintains various phases of operations such as maintains key control, repairs doors, installs locks, replaces fuses, performs filter changes, makes keys, cleans work area and shop area, repairs parking gates, assists in roof repairs, tube system repairs.
Ability to follow specific orders from the Maintenance Mechanic Manager.
Requirements
High School, GED, Trade School. 4 + years mechanical experience preferred. Possess customer relation skills. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
