Kitchen Technician

Kitchen Technician Valdosta, GA Temp to Perm $13.00 / HourA client company of New Hire Solutions is on the lookout for a Kitchen Technician to join its team at their Kids’ Cafe.

As a Kitchen Technician, you will oversee the food service operation, preparing and distributing food service items for consumption by members while ensuring that the facilities are kept in a sanitary condition.

You will also guide and assist assigned personnel in food service operation, prepare and distribute food service items for consumption by members;

maintain inventories of food service items; and maintain facilities in a sanitary condition. Responsibilities

• Guide and assist assigned personnel in food service operations
• Prepare and distribute food service items for consumption by members
• Estimate food preparation amounts to minimize waste
• Serve food according to the type of service used
• Oversee in-depth cleaning tasks including kitchen store areas, internal and external waste bin, and ground level drain areas
• Assist in maintaining an adequate inventory of food goods and supplies, as well as purchasing and transporting them whenever necessary
• Participate and help with special function catering and any other catering services undertaken by the kitchen and catering division
• Direct and assist the preparation of meals in sufficient quantity and quality for all students for the purpose of meeting CACFP and other government guidelines
• Works with the Director of Nutrition to food goods and supplies for the purpose of maintaining an adequate inventory
• Complete and process service tracking paperwork and reports as needed
• Report any suspected Child Abuse or Neglect to their direct supervisor
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Experience and Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Prior job-related experience in food preparation, serving, and basic kitchen activities, with increasing levels of responsibilities, preferably in school and / or instructional settings
• Knowledge of modern methods of food preparation, health codes, and sanitation principles
• Operate and care for institutional kitchen equipment (including but not limited to stoves, ovens, and dishwashers)
• Food Handler Permit through ServSafe® or ability to obtain within the first sixty days of employment
• Excellent strength in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other Microsoft 365 programs

• Ability to handle food in a safe and efficient manner
• Must enjoy cooking and working for and with children and youth
• Maintain positive relations with team and agency members, staff, and community in a professional manner utilizing appropriate customer service and interpersonal skills
• Skills to perform basic arithmetic calculations, use standard office equipment and computer
• Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at a time throughout the day and perform other physical demands, such as pulling, pushing, carrying, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and / or crawling, significant reaching, speaking, writing, hearing, and fine finger dexterity
• Frequent standing, walking, and sitting
• Strict adherence to workload may be stressful
• Clean drug screen
• Willing to undergo a background check
• Must wear proper PPE : closed toe shoes, jeans or khakis, no graphic t-shirt
• Have reliable transportation and show up on time for shift
