POSITION OVERVIEW
The Sr. Safety Manager of Construction is responsible for managing the safety and risk associated with construction projects at Stream Data Centers.
The Sr. Safety Manager of Construction will proactively create, plan, direct and implement Stream’s safety program to ensure a safe, healthy and injury free work environment and further a Culture of Safety for assigned project(s) and will be a key contributor to the companies’ continuous improvement of safety processes and practices.
This role supports Field Safety Managers and Project Managers (internal and external) in ensuring each construction project is conducting operations in a safe manner for the protection of our employees, customers, contractors, subcontractors, vendors and the public during construction.
The Sr. Safety Manager ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, county and local safety related regulations.
The Sr. Safety Manager sets the tone for safety and risk management, demonstrates strong leadership skills, works well in a team environment, has excellent communication skills and strives to enrich a Culture of Safety at Stream Data Centers.
The role reports directly to the Director of Construction Safety and maintains proactive, frequent and open communication.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Culture of Safety, Training
- Plans and implements training to maintain an Injury Free environment and promote a Culture of Safety at Stream Data Centers during design and construction.
- Partners with General Contractors to ensure safe work practices and execution of safety processes.
- Plans and implements programs to train Field Safety Managers and Project Managers in safe working practices, safe equipment operating techniques and fire prevention, emergency response etc.
- Facilitates employee training in first aid and CPR.
- Maintains training records in the employee files in conjunction with Stream’s HR and Training managers.
- Trains new employees in Stream’s desired safety standards and policies prior to commencement of work on projects.
- Trains new employees in the identification and mitigation of site-specific hazards.
- Promotes Stream’s Culture of Safety in words and actions to ensure positive relationships with tenants, partners, employees and leadership.
- Provides programmatic recognition to jobsites and projects that have demonstrated behavior consistent with having a Culture of Safety and promoting an Injury Free Environment
Site Specific Safety
- Oversees Field Safety Managers and Project Managers in the creation, maintenance and compliance with a Site-Specific Safety Plan that accounts for hazards and mitigation strategies appropriate for each project site.
- Leads Field Safety Managers in ensuring that Stream’s projects are injury and accident free by conducting periodic safety inspections.
- Assess sites regularly for specific risks and hazards, provide feedback to Field Safety Managers and Project Managers on specific hazards.
- Oversees discussion, analysis and preparation of Root Cause Analyses and Contributing Factor Analyses. Makes recommendations to resolve deficiencies and ensure safe working conditions on projects.
- Guides and supports Field Safety Managers and Project Managers in formal site inspection or through OSHA compliance.
- Leads internal efforts in resolving injury and accident claims.
Risk Management
- Leads collection and analysis of compliance data from projects, develops KPI’s to assess leading indicators.
- Assists in procurement of services and contract negotiation with vendors and contractors by evaluating them on Safety, prevention of accidents and injuries and having a Culture of Safety
- Develops and maintains a vendor prequalification program that helps Field Safety Managers and Project Managers procure services from contractors and vendors who share Stream’s Culture of Safety
- Works with Stream’s insurance program leads on matters of Worker’s Compensation, General Liability and other pertinent insurance programs to ensure compliance.
- Leads investigation of accidents, injuries and unsafe working conditions, and navigate workers compensation claims, communicates on Injury and Accident-related issues with employees, vendors and contractors.
- Assists Stream’s Director of Construction Safety, legal and insurance teams in preparation of material for use in injury and accident-related litigation.
Provides recommendations for action where applicable.
- Remains current on federal, state, county and local safety regulations. Keeps Stream’s leadership, Project Managers and Field Safety Managers apprised of changes in regulations and their implications.
- Plan and implement risk management, safety policies and procedures in compliance with all federal, state, county and local rules and regulations, including SDS requirements, for both field and office operations, to maximize a safe working environment.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- Knows federal and general State and Local regulations from OSHA, DOSH, ANSI, NFPA, EPA
- Understands and can navigate Worker’s Compensation regulations.
- Has minimum 10 years of direct safety experience in the commercial construction industry including ground-up buildings, multistory buildings, data centers, interior construction and technical projects heavy on Mechanical and Electrical scopes.
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial hygiene, safety management, environmental science, occupational health or other related field preferred but not required.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) preferred.
The pay range for this role is between $130,000 - 160,000 (base). Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, experience, qualifications, location, and other job-related reasons.
