Responsibilities Behavioral Hospital of Bellaire is a freestanding, bed facility specializing in general adult psych, adolescents, geriatric, and women's services.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Verify insurance benefits for patients being admitted into the hospital for care. Respond to VOB assists from Intake Department in a timely manner.
Complete pre-certifications on a timely basis and in accordance with insurance requirements. Complete the telephone profile of insurance benefits in a timely fashion.
Ensure insurance coverage by telephone; resolve any issues with coverage and escalate complicated issues to appropriate parties.
Contact the appropriate agencies to obtain treatment authorization numbers, reimbursement structure, and patient eligibility.
Audit demographic data for errors and make corrections. Assign the correct financial class and adjust financial class as required.
Maintain good communication with the Utilization Review, Business Office, and other staff as required and serve as facility insurance eligibility expert.

Qualifications Education : High School graduate or equivalent preferred. Experience. A minimum of three years’ experience in a health care billing or related field, or any combination of education, training, or experience in a health care business office environment.
Experience with insurance billing, computer and business software programs (Excel) preferred. Additional Requirements : Required to work flexible hours, occasional overtime, and weekends.
