Job Description

Johnson County Library seeks engaged, qualified candidates to fill the position of Web Developer as part of the Customer Experience team.

This Web Developer joins the organization at an exciting time as the Library is about to embark upon a full website redesign.

The Web Developer performs moderately complex web design and support functions, under limited supervision. This positions also administers user accounts, web service platforms, and web services installation, configuration, and upgrades.

This Web Developer also resolves complex system problems and assists in the development and enforcement of standards and policies.

Applications will be accepted through the end of the day on July 8, 2024 . Additional duties include :

• Creates moderately complex web pages and sites in the full capacity using development environments; configures and administers web services, site management consoles, and interface technologies which allow access to enterprise data stores;
• analyzes, designs, develops, and supports moderately complex web-based applications including needs assessments, programming, testing / acceptance, training, security, performance, and ongoing support;
• administers user accounts and access privileges in web applications; monitors site performance for availability, capacity, and utilization;

resolves moderately complex system problems and assists users with application problems.

• Evaluates and implements new web technology that supports strategic IT directions; assists in the development and enforcement of standards and policies;
• applies approved standards to web-based content and applications; reviews current standards of application development methodology;

and plans and develops applications (e.g., workflow management, forms routing, and automation) using modern web platforms.

Documents moderately complex websites as they are developed; administers complex internet and intranet sites including security, user access, configuration, structure, and performance monitoring;

and creates, modifies, and processes reports for access and performance statistics using site analysis tools.

• Provides training, guidance, and assistance to less experienced developers.
• Coordinates with vendors for issue resolution, product updates, and feature integration.

Job Requirements

Minimum Job Requirements :

An associate's degree in computer science, technology, graphic arts, or relevant field is required. Three (3) years of experience in ongoing web development, implementation, or relevant experience is also required.

Johnson County Government requires reference / background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department / Agency.

Preferred Qualifications :

A bachelor's degree in computer science, technology, graphic arts, or relevant field is preferred.

The following qualifications are also preferred :

CMS experience with systems such as Drupal and Wordpress.

Experience with web development tools such as HTML, CSS, Git, PHP and Javascript.

Familiarity with designing within UX / UI best practices such ADA compliance and WCAG standards, and using methods for evaluating user experience such as card sorting and A / B testing.

Understanding of marketing principles / best practices.

Physical, Environmental, and Special Working Conditions :

On-call / stand by work is required. Department and County weather essential job.

All County employees may be called upon to assist other departments in a declared emergency situation.
