Our client, a leading dispensary with retail locations throughout California, is seeking an HR Director with over 5 years of senior HR leadership experience, ideally within the cannabis industry.

The successful candidate will possess a thorough understanding of California cannabis regulations, HR policies, and best practices.

Key qualifications include exceptional communication and problem-solving abilities, strong organizational skills, and a high level of discretion in handling confidential information.

This role requires adaptability in a fast-paced environment, flexibility including weekend availability, and a commitment to fostering a vibrant workplace.

Must be able to work onsite in Costa Mesa, CA.

Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Supervise staffing, compensation, benefits, training, and budget.
  • Advise on labor relations and related HR issues.
  • Promote company culture and serve as a role model for diversity and inclusion.
  • Support retail, distribution, and partner businesses.
  • Plan and evaluate HR initiatives to align with organizational goals.
  • Lead performance management, talent assessment, succession planning, and labor relations.
  • Oversee payroll, job postings, recruitment, interviews, employee retention, safety, and the implementation of new policies.
  • Ensure compliance with laws and regulations; advise leadership on legal HR issues.

Requirements :

  • 5+ Years of HR Leadership Experience : Proven track record in senior HR management.
  • Industry Experience : 2-5 years in cannabis manufacturing, production, or retail preferred.
  • California Cannabis Industry Knowledge : Current understanding of California cannabis laws and industry practices.
  • HR Policies and Best Practices : Comprehensive knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Communication Skills : Excellent ability to interact effectively with all staff levels.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities : Skilled in resolving complex HR issues with discretion and professionalism.
  • Organization and Attention to Detail : Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Confidentiality : Proven ability to manage sensitive information with the utmost discretion.
  • Adaptability : Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
  • Flexibility : Willingness to work weekends as needed.
