Our College Finance Department is seeking to hire a full-time Staff Accountant (Project Coordinator 2) Search Information

  • Hourly wage reflects an approximate annual salary of $69,000 $101,191
  • New employees may not be placed on the salary schedule higher than any current employee in this classification with the same or greater number of years’ relevant experience and education.

  • Lane Community College is considered a qualifying public employer for the purposes of the . Required Experience : Eight (8) years of accounting / finance experience with at least three (3) years in progressively increasing project management role or responsibility.

Position Purpose : This position coordinates and leads the work of College Finance employees. This position plans work, assigns tasks, provides priorities, and trains staff.

This position is available to answer questions and troubleshoot problems daily and may have substantial input into hiring decisions and performance evaluations. Essential Functions :

  • Adhering to funding agency guidelines and College administrative policies, will establish procedures, set priorities, and direct the overall operation of the project.
  • This role includes defining long and short-range goals and objectives, managing contracts with subcontractors, evaluating staffing needs, and overseeing the recruitment and evaluation of staff.
  • Responsible for administering the General Ledger, Account reconciliation, budget and capital outlay requests while monitoring compliance with local, state, and federal laws, policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • This position involves recommending changes to College procedures and policies, evaluating and revising project and departmental policies, and ensuring the timely preparation of required budget and progress reports.
  • Assesses the needs of clients or service recipients and develops procedures to deliver services effectively : this includes providing and coordinating training opportunities and events for staff and target audiences related to project goals, serving as the liaison and advocate for the project with College departments, the community, and other agencies.
  • The role requires establishing and coordinating with user groups, developing network relationships with individuals, coalitions, and agencies working on issues related to goals, representing the College at evaluation and budget negotiation sessions, and providing technical assistance to College staff and outside agencies on related matters.
  • Coordination with other agencies to ensure the College’s obligations are met and collaboration with representatives of state, federal, and local agencies on delivering services are also key responsibilities.
  • The role requires ensuring that all financial aspects align with accounting principles and standards, overseeing the preparation and analysis of financial statements and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting regulations, developing and implementing financial controls to safeguard assets, providing detailed financial reports to funding agencies and College administration, and collaborating with the accounting department to ensure accurate budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
  • This position requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to social justice and diversity.
  • Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students.

Supervision Statement : Reports to and works under the guidance of the Controller. Work is performed independently based on previous knowledge and professional judgment, according to local, state, and federal regulations, applicable laws, College policies and program guidelines.

This position coordinates and leads the work of Project Coordinators, Administrative Specialists, Project Specialists, hourly employees, volunteers and / or student workers.

This position plans work, assigns tasks, provides priorities, and trains staff. This position is available to answer questions and troubleshoot problems daily and may have substantial input into hiring decisions and performance evaluations.

Physical Demands / Working Environment : This position works indoors and is exposed to usual office working conditions that include office noises and interruptions, such as printers, telephones, and visitors.

This position requires that an employee is able to sit or stand for extended periods of time; perform cognitive and psychometric work for more than six (6) hours a day.
