About the Role
What you will do
- Take on full ownership and responsibility for the architecture and operational support for a large, complex database platform powering a key, foundational FinThrive product
- Work with and support multiple software development scrum teams in database refactoring, coding, and performance tuning
- Work in a self-directed, proactive manner to identify problems and opportunities for improvement and see them through to implementation
- Work across teams and interface with application engineering, product management, application architecture, and infrastructure DBA teams to drive solutions and improvements to the data platform
- Proactively monitor performance and failure scenarios within the database platform and iteratively drive improvements to automated monitoring and alerting
- Respond to any related production incidents / outages as the primary database on-call resource for this product with the backing and support of DBA, infrastructure, and application support teams and take point on any database-related restoration and root-cause-analysis activities required
- In collaboration with the application engineering team, craft and refine a roadmap to drive simplification and modernization of the database architecture
- Identify performance capacity requirements by analyzing workloads and taking information from prospective product onboarding plans
What you will bring
- 5+ years of SQL Server DBA and database development experience
- Knowledge and significant experience with SQL Server, AlwaysOn Availability Groups, SQL Server Replication Services, and SQL Server Integration services deployment, administration, monitoring, and troubleshooting
- Firsthand experience with managing SQL Server data replication / synchronization technologies to facilitate both high availability and disaster recovery scenarios
- Significant experience with resolving complex technical SQL Server database-related issues
- Excellent understanding of and experience with relational database architecture and database implementations / monitoring / maintenance within SQL Server
- Experience automating SQL Server administration tasks and workflows
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
What we would like to see
- Bachelor's Degree in MIS, IT, Computer Science or related field
- Knowledge of Transparent Data Encryption
- Firm understanding of the most prominent Azure database technologies such as Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance
