For immediate hire : UUCLB seeks Collaborative Pianist
Supervisor : Director of Music Ministries (DOMM) or Settled Minister FLSA Status : Non-Exempt
Principal Duty :
The Collaborative Pianist collaborates with the Director of Music Ministries to provide musical resources for the congregation.
Basic Responsibilities :
- Provide musical accompaniment and artistic insight to the church choir and band (Wylder Spirits) during weekly rehearsals and worship services.
- Accompany congregational singing during worship services
- Provide other music in worship, such as preparing solo performances on piano or other instruments, or joining with other musicians and ensembles
- Able to play authentically in a variety of musical styles, honoring diverse cultures
- Participate in special services (i.e. Christmas Eve)
- Coordinate with DOMM to make arrangements when unable to be present for Sunday or Wednesday. Every effort will be made to arrange time off in advance, knowing that emergencies may occur.
- Communicate regularly with DOMM on creative work and artistic input
Hours of Work :
This is a year-round position, with Wednesday musical rehearsals and Sunday morning (9-11 : 15 am) running from mid-August-beginning of June.
Time off for Wednesday rehearsals and Sunday mornings to be arranged in advance with the DOMM.
Compensation : $200 / week including rehearsals, preparation and Sunday service. Within UUA Fair Compensation Guidelines for Collaborative Artists, Geographic Zone 5.
