Responsibilities
The Medical Assistant (MA) will :
- Monitor patient arrival and coordinate patient flow with Physician and other care team members to ensure a positive patient experience
- Escort patient to exam room, assist patient in preparing for exam and advise the Physician when patient is ready
- Assist during examinations, if required or requested
- Prepare patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests and documents in EMR
- Assist patients with referrals, appointments as necessary
- Ensure that facilities and equipment are in optimal and proper working condition
- Keep adequate supplies available by inventorying stock on a regular basis
- Perform typing assignments for the office (e.g. labels, letters, forms and mailings to patients)
- Secure patient information and maintain patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records
- Perform electrocardiograms and phlebotomy in accordance with provider orders
- Perform other related duties, as required
Qualifications :
- High School Diploma / GED
- Medical Assistant (MA) certification
- EKG and Phlebotomy training
- CPR certification
- Computer savvy and Data Entry skills
- Solid assessment, clinical, and documentation skills
- Patient oriented
- Great interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong attention to detail
- Highly organized
Desired Skills :
- 1+ year of experience as a Medical Assistant (MA) in a Hospital and / or Doctor's Office setting
- Associate's and / or Bachelor's Degree
- EKG and Phlebotomy certification
