Job Description

JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II.

JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.

For work specific to Colorado Springs, JT4 supports the National Space Test and Training Complex (NSTTC) Electronic Domain portion of the range.

JOB SUMMARY - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / DUTIES

A Field Engineer IV performs as a lead on more complex field engineering assignments and perform a variety of engineering assignments involving technology applications involved in the installation, operation, testing, and maintenance of complex electronic / mechanical equipment and systems.

Will provide oversite and support of systems, integration and test engineering activities for the Transportable Range Operations Center (TROC) and associated / related sub-systems and equipment.

Employee will be responsible for performing the following functions / duties :

  • Apply knowledge of design specifications for more complex systems / projects
  • Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements
  • Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures
  • Prepare, deliver, and submit technical papers and perform engineering studies
  • Support development of technical proposals and provide comments on technical content and level of effort of the proposed scope of work
  • Install, monitor, and service equipment and systems at the company and client sites
  • Perform or coordinate test and evaluation, check-out, and certification tasks
  • Perform validations / verifications of various electronic systems
  • Develop, maintain, and produce technical documentation and system / subsystem specifications
  • Direct interface and liaison with customers at all levels from quotation to final design and test activities, design reviews, and technical working group meetings to comply with requirements and specifications
  • Develop, update and maintain engineering documents and artifacts in support of systems, integration and test engineering
  • Provide weekly, monthly and quarterly reports and status updates on engineering projects
  • Conduct site visits, experimental investigations and analyze engineering problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations
  • Perform other job-related duties, as required

REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL, AND WORK EXPERIENCE

An associate's degree in engineering or other technical discipline, or formal academic / vocational / military training and a minimum of 12 years of experience in the specialty field are required for this position.

In addition, a Field Engineer IV must possess the following qualifications :

  • Broad knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of engineering that enable performance as a senior technical contributor on complex projects or programs
  • Knowledge and skill sufficient to apply developments in engineering to solve problems in the specialty area
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs
  • Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Planning / organizational skills.

SALARY

The expected salary range for this position is $86,000 to $135,000 annually.

Note : The salary range offered for this position is a good faith description of the expected salary range this role will pay.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards. Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting and use of a computer terminal;
  • constant use of sight abilities while writing, reviewing, and editing documents; constant use of speech / hearing abilities for communication;

and constant mental alertness are required.

Travel to remote company work locations may be required.
