We are seeking a Branch Engineering Manager to lead a rapidly growing privately held full-service Civil Engineering design firm having leadership responsibilities for multiple concurrent projects in the municipal water and sanitary sewer infrastructure sector.
In addition to leading the local design team and project managers in Cleveland, this role offers additional growth potential to lead the entire Engineering Department for the company statewide across multiple branch locations.
This is a hands-on player / coach role. NOTE : This position requires an active Ohio Professional Engineer’s (PE) license.
Essential Job Functions Include :
- Lead a team of engineers and CAD designers to develop and execute water and sewer infrastructure design projects for residential and commercial clients.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of a high-performing design engineering team.
- Conduct site investigations and feasibility studies to determine project requirements.
- Create detailed engineering designs for water and sanitary sewer systems, including piping systems, pumps, lift stations, storm water collection, and treatment plants.
- Prepare comprehensive site design plans covering grading, drainage, and erosion control.
- Design stormwater management systems to meet local, state, and federal regulatory standards.
- Design on-site sanitary systems such as septic tanks, aeration systems, and leach fields.
- Perform hydraulic and hydrologic modeling for system performance analysis and optimization.
- Design transportation infrastructure improvements, including sidewalks and roadways, per DOT standards.
- Prepare detailed engineering specifications and bid documents.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies for project compliance and approvals.
- Provide technical support during construction and commissioning phases.
- Stay informed on industry best practices, new technologies, and regulatory changes.
Qualifications :
- B.S. in Civil Engineering or related technical degree.
- MUST have a Professional Engineer (PE) license in Ohio, West Virginia, and / or Pennsylvania, or ability to obtain one through reciprocity.
- 8+ years of progressive design experience in water / sewer infrastructure.
- 3+ years of project management experience.
- Prior Managerial or Supervisory experience.
- Proven experience in site design, storm water management, water / wastewater utilities, on-site sanitary systems, erosion control, and DOT projects.
- Experience in retaining wall design, cost estimating, pavement design, surveying, construction management, or GIS is a plus.
- Proficiency in relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bentley OpenRoads, Trimble Business Center, HecRas).
- Strong understanding of hydraulic and hydrologic principles.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to water / sewer systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
