DEKRA North America is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager that will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end payroll processes for multiple business units within the US and Canada for the Americas Region.
This role requires a strategic leader with a strong background in payroll-management, who can deliver on exceptional customer experiences, and the ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
What You’ll Do :
- Manage, prepare, and oversee the entire payroll process for the US and Canada within the region, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
- Performs payroll-related functions, including payroll processing, payroll tax compliance, automated timekeeping systems and payroll reporting within multi-site, multi-state environment utilizing UKG Pro (WFM) platform for the US and Canada.
- Lead, train, and mentor a novice payroll specialist and build a team dedicated to delivering outstanding customer service, addressing employee inquiries, and resolving issues promptly.
- Ensure regulatory compliance with federal, state, and local laws; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on necessary actions.
- Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams, external vendors, and payroll service providers to streamline processes and implement best practices.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance the overall customer experience for employees within the region.
- Implement and monitor employee satisfaction metrics to identify areas for improvement.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and automation within the payroll function.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement improvements and drive operational efficiency.
- Proactively assess, update, and communicate standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance and alignment with industry best practices.
- Uphold ethical standards in handling confidential payroll information to maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations.
- Collaborate with Total Rewards / HR Operations Director and vendors to establish processes and SOPs to ensure accurate automated employee benefits deductions.
- Determine payroll liabilities by approving the calculation of employee federal and state income and social security taxes, and employer’s social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments.
- Conduct needs assessment and establish tax profiles with state and local jurisdictions for employment taxes. Research and resolve employment tax inquiries and discrepancies.
- Prepare reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages, etc.
- Create custom ad hoc reports for internal partners and the company’s leadership team.
- Collaborate with internal partners on special projects.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
What Makes a Great Candidate :
- Bachelor’s degree (strongly preferred). May consider 5-7 years of payroll management experience plus CPP certification in lieu.
- Minimum 5-7 years of payroll management experience.
- Strong leadership skills with a proven record of managing successful teams.
- CPP or another recognized Payroll Professional credential.
- ADP payroll processing and ADP implementation experience (strongly preferred)
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders across the organization.
- Acute mindfulness in all aspects of the payroll lifecycle.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and security of data.
- Significant knowledge of payroll systems, functionality, and configuration
- Ability to analyze issues, develop solutions, and communicate appropriate direction for resolution.

Physical Considerations :
Ability to work in a general office environment; extended periods of computer-based work.
Travel Considerations :
Domestic travel 10-15% if working on a remote basis.
What You’ll Receive for the Value You Bring :
Compensation :
The base pay for this position is $80,000 annually to $110,000 annually. Actual pay is based on several factors including market location and position-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
