Colorado Supreme Court Colorado Lawyer Assistance Program
The Supreme Court Advisory Committee on the Practice of Law has opened the application period for candidates for the position of Executive Director of the Colorado Lawyer Assistance Program (COLAP).
The vacancy will be created by the departure of Sarah Myers and will occur on approximately January 1, 2025.

COLAP’s mission is to assist members of the legal profession with whatever is impacting their ability to be productive, including those impaired by mental health issues and / or substance use disorders.
It also includes educating the bench, bar, and law schools about the causes and remedies for impairment affecting members of the legal profession, thereby protecting the interests of clients, litigants, and the general public from harm caused by impairment issues.
The Executive Director oversees all aspects of the Colorado Lawyer Assistance Program.
Minimum Requirements :
- An attorney with an active Colorado license in good standing; or
- A master’s or doctorate degree with active Colorado licensure in psychology, mental health, addiction counseling, social work, or equivalent in good standing (examples : LMFT, LAC, LPC, or LCSW); or
- Advanced certification in behavioral health, addiction medicine, employee assistance professional, or equivalent national credentialing from professional organizations; and / or
- Advanced medical or nursing degree with active Colorado license in good standing.
2. Minimum 8 years of work experience with professionals in the legal, clinical, behavioral health, educational, and / or medical fields, or as a director, program coordinator, supervisor, office manager, high-level administrator, or similar role.
