OVERVIEW
As part of the Information Services Team, the Development Operations (DevOps) Director leads a team responsible for overseeing the design, development, deployment, integration, and administration of various Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) software systems that comprise Dakota Electric’s technology ecosystem.
As the leader of a team of seven direct reports, the selected applicant will be an individual with a strong background in information technology and project management who is also interested in helping develop others.
Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, this role will have oversight of the Information Services Team that is responsible for data analytics, care of the technological ecosystem, database administration, and more.
Goals for this role to achieve will include finding ways to make things easier and more effective with regards to how individuals access and use data and other applications.
JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participates in developing and recommending short- and long-term plans for the enterprise technology ecosystem.
- Works with stakeholders and technology staff to prioritize development projects.
- Guides the development and delivery of technology solutions.
- Reviews and approves general systems approaches to the solution of problems and reviews program results; leads and delivers large-scale enterprise technology initiatives.
- Ensures all systems, applications, and integrations are implemented and maintained using sound principles of systems design and life cycle management.
- Ensures full documentation to provide an accurate, up-to-date depiction of Dakota Electric’s environment.
- Serves as primary point of contact for critical applications.
- Leads services portfolio planning, development strategies / initiatives, and product lifecycle.
- Leads the development process using software engineering practices and tools : such as structured and object-oriented analysis and design techniques, use of CASE and other software engineering tools, methodologies, as well as company and industry standards.
- Performs other duties as apparent or assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business, mathematics, statistics, decision sciences, or a related discipline is required.
6 years of work experience in these areas may be accepted in lieu of a degree.)
- 10 years progressive work experience in information technology, project management, and supervision.
- Experience in deploying, managing, and scaling cloud computing for application development and production environments, particularly using leading public cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or Google.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Electric Cooperative experience.
- Familiar with Project Management Book of Knowledge (PMBOK).
- ITIL Certification 3.0 or greater certification.
- PMI / Project Management certification.
- CISSP / Security certification.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal department office conditions and working hours apply (40 hours / week). Occasional overtime may be required. Maintain a good working relationship with co-workers in all departments to successfully implement accounting policies and procedures.
Must be able to cope with stressful situations that interrupt the normal workday schedule.
