Who are we hiring?

The Kansas City Current is hiring an Information Technology Manager to oversee our Information Technology operations at the Training Center, Retail Warehouse and CPKC Stadium.

These operations include, managing projects, ensuring network security, implementing technology solutions, and providing technical support.

As an applicant you should have

  • A solid understanding of various IT systems, networks, and technologies. This includes knowledge of hardware, software, cybersecurity principles, cloud computing, and emerging technologies.
  • Strong leadership qualities to motivate and inspire others. This includes the ability to delegate tasks, provide guidance, resolve conflicts, and foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Clear and effective communication skills to conveying technical information to non-technical stakeholders, managing expectations, and fostering teamwork.

You should be able to communicate complex concepts in a simple and understandable manner.

  • Be adept at identifying and resolving technical issues and challenges efficiently. This requires critical thinking skills, creativity, and the ability to think on your feet to find solutions to complex problems.
  • A strategic mindset and be able to align IT initiatives with the Club’s overall goals and objectives. You should be able to anticipate future IT needs, identify opportunities for innovation, and develop long-term IT strategies.
  • Strong project management skills. This includes the ability to plan, organize, execute, and monitor projects effectively, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
  • A customer-centric approach, prioritizing the needs of end-users and stakeholders. Understanding that end-users and stakeholders will be internal and external.

You should be responsive to user feedback, strive to deliver high-quality IT services, and continuously seek ways to improve the user experience.

  • Adaptable and willing to embrace change. You should stay updated on the latest technologies, industry trends, and best practices through continuous learning and professional development.
  • Understand budgeting, cost management, and resource allocation. You should be able to develop and manage budgets effectively, optimize resource utilization, and demonstrate a strong return on investment for IT initiatives.
  • Adhere to ethical standards and confidentiality protocols. Trustworthiness, integrity, and ethical conduct are essential for maintaining the security and integrity of IT systems and data.

What will you do?

1. Overseeing IT Operations : Manage day-to-day IT activities, including network infrastructure, systems administration, and helpdesk support.

2. Project Management : Lead IT projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.

3. Budgeting and Resource Allocation : Develop and manage IT budgets, allocate resources effectively, and negotiate contracts with vendors and service providers.

4. Strategic Planning : Collaborate with senior management to align IT strategies with organizational goals, identify opportunities for innovation, and develop long-term IT roadmaps.

5. Security and Compliance : Implement and maintain robust security measures to protect company data and systems, ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards (e.

g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS).

6. Technology Evaluation and Implementation : Evaluate new technologies, software, and hardware solutions to improve efficiency, productivity, and competitiveness.

Oversee the implementation and integration of new systems.

7. Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity : Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans and procedures to minimize downtime and ensure business continuity in the event of IT disruptions or disasters.

8. Vendor Management : Manage relationships with IT vendors and service providers, negotiate contracts, and monitor service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure optimal performance and cost-effectiveness.

9. User Support and Training : Provide technical support to end-users, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate training programs to enhance employees’ IT skills and knowledge.

10. Performance Monitoring and Reporting : Monitor IT performance metrics, analyze trends, and generate reports to identify areas for improvement and make data-driven decisions.

11. Stay Current with Technology Trends : Keep abreast of emerging technologies, industry best practices, and cybersecurity threats to continuously enhance the organization’s IT capabilities and resilience.

What do you need to succeed?

Technical Skills :

  • Proficiency in network administration, system administration, and IT infrastructure management.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, including threat detection, prevention, and incident response.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and virtualization technologies.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure is preferred.
  • Knowledge of IT service management frameworks such as ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library).
  • Familiarity with enterprise software systems, database management, and data analytics tools.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or PowerShell.
  • Proficiency with Audio Visual technology is a plus.

Leadership Abilities :

  • Demonstrated experience in team management, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with team members, stakeholders, and senior management.
  • Ability to inspire and motivate team members, foster collaboration, and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to align IT initiatives with the organization’s overall goals and objectives.
  • Project management skills to plan, execute, and monitor IT projects from initiation to completion.

Educational Qualifications :

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree or relevant certifications preferred.
  • Microsoft, Cisco Certifications.

Relevant Experience :

  • Three (3) years of experience in IT roles, with progressively increasing responsibilities.
  • Experience in a supervisory or managerial role, overseeing IT teams and projects.
  • Experience working in the sports, entertainment or live events is preferred.

  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies and skills to keep pace with industry advancements.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

  • Ethical conduct and a commitment to upholding security, confidentiality, and compliance standards.

Special requirements of the Job :

Must be able to work a flexible schedule, inclusive of weekends, nights (event evenings & overnight operation shifts) and holidays.

Ability to monitor company communications and respond to time sensitive matters with senior executives. Travel may be required.
