Summary

The IT Support Specialist monitors and maintains the Company's computer systems, installs, and configures hardware and software, and solves technical problems.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Provide daily support for computer network users.
  • Oversee the daily performance of computer systems.
  • Answer Help Desk calls (including after-hours in case of urgent issues) and e-mails regarding the computer network and communication systems.
  • Maintain record of IT issues, status and remedial actions taken.
  • Maintain updates for all server and desktop environments.
  • Troubleshoot and configure company hardware and software, including mobile devices.
  • Coordinates ordering of IT equipment
  • Setting up equipment for employee use, including peripherals such as printers.
  • Train users in the proper use of hardware and software.
  • Coordinate repairs of hardware or software with vendors.
  • Replace malfunctioning and damaged hardware and ensure secure disposal of old equipment.
  • Setting up accounts, e-mails and assisting in all password-related issues.
  • Maintain IT asset inventory and recommend improvements and upgrades.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Expectations :

  • IT equipment for new hires ready and installed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure regular maintenance of existing hardware and computer systems and ordering of new equipment.
  • Be available and supportive to employees that have technical issues or questions.
  • Assist in roll out of new applications or operating systems.
  • IT technical issues resolved in a timely manner and status updates communicated to end users.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

The employee must have :

  • Bachelor's Degree in MIS, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Established customer-service skills.
  • Basic understanding of PC hardware configurations, Microsoft Windows Desktop & Server operating systems, Microsoft 365, and networking concepts.

PHYSICAL / MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

The employee must perform the job's essential functions with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.

The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required.

This includes hard hat, safety glasses, life vest, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, personal flotation devices (PFD’s), or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done.

In addition, the employee must also be capable of :

  • Walking, stepping, climbing, or otherwise moving from one location on the job site to another, which may be of varying heights and access parameters.
  • Standing, stooping, twisting, bending, crouching, kneeling, squatting, climbing, or sitting repetitively and / or for extended periods of time.
  • Repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands and back in performance of work.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 30lbs individually. Anything greater than 30lbs and up to 60lbs will require additional lifting means.
  • Must be able to push and pull at peak force of 150lbs.
  • Climbing stairs and / or vertical ladders of a height of 6ft or greater.
  • Working in confined work areas and / or elevated heights.
  • Adapting to temperature changes, outdoor conditions, and prolonged exposure to dusty, wet, or humid conditions, loud noises, and vibration.
