SERVICE WRITER

C & B Material Handling, LLC (part of the C & B Equipment family), a leader and supplier of choice in material handling equipment, automation solutions, and industrial equipment rental, is seeking a Service Writer for our location in Chilhowie, Virginia.

This role is essential in maintaining the efficiency and effectiveness of our service processes, ensuring customer satisfaction, and assisting the service manager with the service department's operations.

Essential Duties :

• Receive incoming calls from customers regarding maintenance needs on equipment and dispatch technicians to job sites.
• Open work orders as directed by the Service Manager and ensure they are processed, closed, and invoiced in a timely manner.
• Prepare all warranty claims and submit to the Central Warranty Processor daily. Assist them with follow-up on all unpaid claims.
• Monitor parts backorders as communicated by Parts Department and advise Service Manager on scheduling and rescheduling work accordingly.
• Invoice customers promptly upon completion of repair orders and consistently work to meet or exceed work-in-progress (WIP) goals daily.
• Maintain Service Department filing and records.
• Update customer profiles with information from work orders.
• Monitor Service Technician efficiency reports.
• Address internal and external customer inquiries to the Service Department.
• Manage shortages and expedite issues by reporting to the Service Manager.
• Provide assistance to Service Manager as needed.

Requirements :

• Experience in a service department role required, preferably in the material handling industry.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and service-related software.
• Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.
• Ability to meet the physical demands and duration of exertion required for all job functions.
