Position Summary
Gannon University, a Catholic university, seeks a Grounds Worker. The successful candidate will be responsible for the general maintenance and upkeep of campus lawns and sidewalks and will assist in the preparation and cleaning associated with university events.
General landscaping, snow plowing, pruning, edging, mulching, and planting skills are preferred.
Must be able to work overtime hours and be flexible with work schedule. Work hours will change during winter months. Must be able to support and promote the University’s Mission.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Mow grass, prune shrubbery, rake leaves, and weed flower and plant beds.
- Plant and water flowers, grass, and plants;
- Monitor campus grounds, collecting and sweeping debris.
- Spread topsoil, gravel, and bark mulch.
- Participate in snow removal from parking lots, sidewalks, and entrances; spread ice melting compound.
- Operate electrical, mechanical, and gas-powered cleaning, snow removal and garden equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on all ground’s equipment (ex. Oil changes, tire replacement, skid steer maintenance repairs and inspections, troubleshooting etc.)
- Ensure that all equipment is functioning safely, properly, and ready for use in all seasons.
- Perform other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications Education : High school diploma / GED.
Experience : One to three years experience.
Licenses and Certifications : Valid driver’s license.
Skills : Must be self-motivated and have good oral, written, and verbal communication skills.
