GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY :

We are seeking an Accounting Manager to help continue that success and to address the current challenges of growth and volume.
The Accounting Manager will work with the Finance team, program managers, and external funders to ensure the successful implementation of our budgeting and recording efforts.
The successful Accounting Manager will possess strong accounting and project management skills, be collaborative and detail-oriented and enjoy contributing to a healthy workplace culture for all employees in support of IRCO's mission.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Create a schedule for the regular reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
- Maintain allocations and disbursements worksheets.
- Manage grant accounting including the net assets schedule, leading the communication with program managers and development.
- Establish protocols for cash management.
- Supervise the payroll process and coordination with the Payroll Specialist and HR team.
- Prepare budget to actual reports in coordination with Budgets and Contracts team.
- Contribute updates to the Accounting Manual and develop systematic accounting procedures for various functions.
- Prepare various audit worksheets and schedules.
- Supervise four accounting staff, provide guidance and direction as needed.
- Assist in month end closing ensuring journal entries are properly posted.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS :
- Participate in IRCO based required DEIB, anti-harassment, and other training.
- Attend recurring all-staff meetings, team meetings and other requested meetings.
- Participate in policy work with strategic plan workgroup on request.
- Pursue relevant training in the field of Accounting.
- Support IRCO's strategic goals and objectives.
Requirements
JOB SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS :
- Bachelor's or equivalent degree in Accounting, Business or similar combination of education and experience.
- CPA preferred.
- 5-7 years' experience in progressively challenging accounting positions, preferably in a not-for-profit organization.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of GAAP accounting.
- Proficiency in ABILA MIP preferred, Microsoft Office Suite required.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Intercultural competence; demonstrated skill in understanding cultural differences.
- Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with stakeholders, staff, and community members.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
KNOWLEDGE :
Education : Bachelor's Degree
Experience : 5-6 years of experience is required
Computers : This position requires a high proficiency level with Microsoft Products, including Microsoft 365, Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, and PowerPoint.
In addition, this position specifically requires : Experience / proficiency in ABILA-MIP. Ability to learn other applications as needed.
