Description

Primary Responsibilities : The Collections Specialist is primarily responsible for answering incoming customer calls, making outbound collections attempts including accepting payments from residents and negotiating payoff deadlines and payment plans.

Skills & Competencies :

  • 2+ years in collections or relevant work experience
  • Prior experience working in a call center environment, preferred
  • Spanish speaking, preferred not required
  • Intermediate knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; advanced preferred
  • Knowledge of fair housing and local real estate laws, where applicable.
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated customer service skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to produce high-quality work in a deadline-oriented environment and an ability to multi-task
  • Ability to thrive in a high volume, data entry, and processing work environment, where applicable
  • Ability to work in a work schedule environment, including in-office operation, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs.

Essential Job Functions :

  • Answer incoming customer calls and make outbound collection attempts averaging 100-150 calls per day.
  • Accept payments from residents and negotiate payoff deadlines and any payment plans.
  • Responsible for Collections and Rental Assistance inbox and answering emails timely.
  • Completing all Rental Assistance applications and tasks
  • Report any known causes of account discrepancies to the Supervisor
  • Carrying out investigations and coming up with plans to resolve discrepancies
  • Assist with updating MRI resident conversation and account changes
  • Assist with a variety of projects and perform other duties as assigned
  • Outbound calls to residents in the last stages of eviction
  • Create and manage payment options with residents
  • Adhere to fair housing and local real estate laws
  • Conduct yourself courteously and professionally at all times.
  • Other duties, as assigned by supervisor or leadership team.

  • 92% Delinquency collected at 30 days
  • 96% Delinquency collected at 60 days
  • 98% Delinquency collected at 90 days
  • 90% Of Delinquent residents contacted
  • 90% Call Quality Score

Physical Requirements :

  • Capable of working extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
  • Able to see well enough to read faint or partially obscured writing or printing, with corrective lenses if needed.
  • Must be able to speak English in a clear and understandable voice so that various types of communications may be conducted with people of various levels of education and capabilities, including the exchange and receipt of information over the telephone.
  • Position involves sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, shoving, lifting, carrying, and moving objects that can weigh up to 25 lbs.

This movement can occur throughout the day. Must also be able to climb several flights of stairs if necessary.

  • Must be able to interact with all types of individuals, be mentally alert, detail-oriented, and with good reasoning skills.
  • Must have finger dexterity for typing / using a keyboard.

Environmental Requirements :

Must be able to work on more than one assignment at a time with frequent interruptions, changes, and delays. Must be able to remain focused and work effectively, efficiently, and cheerfully under such circumstances.

For safety reasons, employees must remain alert to working conditions and aware of safety, health, and environmental concerns.

Must be able to work effectively and cheerfully in an environment that may be stressful due to adversarial situations resulting from the proper performance of duties.
