The Director, Campus Ministry is responsible for providing management and oversight of all ministry programs and efforts directed toward students of the university to help them grow in their adult faith and create a religiously vibrant campus community.
This role serves as a member of the senior leadership team within the office. Being a Catholic, active in her or his faith, and competent in working with people of many cultures, ethnicities and religious traditions is required.
Also required is an understanding of the Jesuit and Catholic traditions of higher education, an understanding of Ignatian spirituality, knowledge of Catholic social teaching and a commitment to issues of social justice.
This role is responsible for the development and management of staff.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Provide direction of the Campus Ministry team and its work including but not limited to, being involved in some aspect of spiritual support and programmatic ministry with students and have ultimate responsibility for the use of St.
Joan of Arc Chapel, the Chapel of the Holy Family and the Eucharistic Chapel.
2. Manage the budget and supervise the functions of Campus Ministry. This includes planning the budget, disbursement of funds and supervising use of said funds, set salaries in collaboration with the Vice President of Mission and Ministry, fund raise when necessary and work with University Advancement to secure donations to the programs of Campus Ministry.
3. Serve as liaison to key areas of the University. This includes attending and participating in Student Affairs Executive Leadership and student orientation meetings, meeting monthly with a representative from the Office of Residence Life, maintaining a regular contact with the members of the Jesuit Community, creating opportunities for Campus Ministry to attend academic events and taking leadership role when appropriate on committees and planning groups, and in public prayer.
4. Maintain a supervisory relationship with representatives of other faith traditions doing ministry at Marquette and religious organizations on campus.
Meet regularly with affiliated ministers of non-Catholic traditions who are serving on the Marquette campus. Approve and regularly review any student organization with religious focus.
Be available as a consultant to Student Affairs professionals about the appropriateness of programs sponsored by groups with a religious or moral focus.
5. Be available for crisis intervention and grief support through collaboration with other members of the Campus Ministry team and professionals within the University.
6. Collaborate with all involved in ministry and faith development at Marquette to explore and evaluate how to best meet the spiritual needs of the University Community, namely, the Office of Mission and Ministry, the Faber Center for Ignatian Spirituality, the Jesuit community, Gesu Parish, the Department of Theology and the Department of Philosophy.
7. Provide national visibility for Marquette University. Attend and actively participate in meetings of the Campus Ministry Directors from the Association of Jesuit College and Universities ( AJCU ).
Attend or delegate attendance to CCMA meetings and Ignatian Solidarity Networks events. Collaborate with other Jesuit institutions on common ministry projects and meetings.
8. Responsible for the supervision of staff which includes but is not limited to hiring, terming, disciplinary actions, performance management, staff development, etc.
Meet with individual team members and hall ministers every other week.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Divinity, Pastoral Ministry, Religious Studies, Counseling or a related field.
Qualified as a spiritual / retreat director.
A minimum of 6 years of related ministry experience.
A minimum of 2 years of experience in Catholic campus ministry, particularly in directing student leaders.
Supervisory experience required.
A proven creative and innovative approach for attracting undergraduate and graduate students to participate in campus ministry activities.
Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a campus ministry or similar team while fostering a spirit of collaboration.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, multi-tasking abilities, and the ability to deal with diverse constituencies.
Computer competency, to include proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and web-based and social media applications.
Demonstrated attention to detail, professional attitude, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
