The Department of Healthcare and Family Services, Child Support Services (CSS) is seeking to hire a motivated candidate to serve as a Public Service Administrator assigned to our Sangamon Program and Business Services unit.
- This position serves as a Unit manager; plans, directs, and evaluates the activities of the Program and Business Services unit for the Division of Child Support Services (CSS);
- develops and maintains cooperative working relationships with Central Management Services staff, governmental officials, and outside sources to facilitate Division operations;
gathers and analyzes information and drafts complex reports for management review.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills to be successful in performing the operations of the Program and Business Services unit.

Essential Functions
- Subject to management approval, serves as Program and Business Manager for the Program and Business Services unit in the Division of Child Support Services (CSS)
- Serves as working supervisor
- Plans, directs, and evaluates the statewide Administrative Support Services programs for Child Support Services
- Serves as the management liaison in contact with the Bureau of Administrative Services (BAS), private vendors, and other state, federal and local agencies involved with the administrative services needs of the Division
- Develops and directs special projects
- Coordinates the order and movement of supplies and equipment for the Division of CSS offices
- Performs other duties as required or assigned that are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college
- Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a public or
business organization
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) years of professional experience working with public and business administration, principles, and practices
- Three (3) years professional experience utilizing policies and procedures for a public or private organization
- Three (3) years of professional experience working with programs and service objectives, activities and operational systems for a public or private organization
- Three (3) years professional experience developing and managing a supportive agency program
- Two (2) years of professional experience analyzing administrative problems and adopting an effective course of action
- Two (2) years of professional experience developing and maintaining working relationships
Conditions of Employment
- Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history
- This position is considered heavy work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(d)). Heavy work involves lifting no more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Requires the ability to utilize and maintain state issued equipment such as a laptop
- Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate
