About the role :

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT)Information Technology Division is seeking a senior Project Managerto manage and deliver a complex IT project(s) with multiple teamsand work streams coordinated to an aggressive deliveryschedule.

Under the program manager theproject manager is responsible for the outcome of the assignedprojects. The project manager leads the team through theCommonwealth Standard for Project Management for successfulcompletion of the project phases : PreSelect Initiation PlanningExecution and Control and Closeout.

Theselected candidate will :

Serve as a handsontechnical project manager with development staff and businessgroups.

Coordinate and communicate with ITD managementand staff to coordinate work tasks and resourcing.

Communicate timelines and expectations to technical and businessstaff.

Collaborate with vendors consultants andcontractors in the execution of projects including contractmanagement and working with the procurement office(s).

Adhere to VDOT and VITA project management practices and governancerequirements; coordinate with VDOT and VITA Project ManagementOffices.

Maintain project budget plans tasks schedulesrisks and status and disseminate information to team members andcustomers as defined in the communications plan.

Ensuredocumentation of requirements and use cases facilitate designworkshops for assigned projects.

Ensure definition oftest objectives designed test plans and test cases for assignedprojects.

Provide the management of project milestonesand deliverables for ontime and onbudget delivery.

Define measure and clearly communicate progress withmetrics.

Support system and application trainingefforts.

Qualifications

Required :

• Ability to interact effectivelywith customers and project team members.
• Ability to analyze and translate requirements into systemspecifications.
• Knowledge of projectmanagement tools methods and practices.
• Ability to analyze design develop troubleshoot andimplement technology solutions.
• Experience inMicrosoft Project software.
• Experience in theMicrosoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint) and MicrosoftSharePoint
• Knowledge of data modelinginterface management applications and tools.
• Comprehensive knowledge of project managementmethodologies.
• Active Project ManagementProfessional (PMP) or VITA certified Project Managementcertification
• Ability to communicateeffectively orally and in writing.
• Experiencein both Agile and Waterfall project management.
• Ability to program and create custom reportsusing IT application standard tools.
• A combination of training experience oreducation in Computer Science Information Systems EngineeringBusiness Administration or related fielddesired.
• Progressively responsibleexperience with system analysis design development testing andtroubleshooting.

Preferred :

Agile Scrum Master certification
