How you will contribute
Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Maintenance Technician position on the 2nd shift Monday - Thursday, 1 : 30Pm to Midnight in the Global Coatings Division.
We are looking for a highly driven individual that will assist in the daily functions of the Maintenance Department. Additionally, you will
- Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as hoist motors, pumps, belts, fans, air conditioners, conveyors, etc.
- Examines mechanical equipment to diagnose trouble.
- Disassembles machines and repairs and replaces broken parts.
- Uses all types of power tools and hand tools
- Adjustment of functional parts of mechanical devices as necessary
- Keeps work area clean; observes all safety procedures
- Interprets blueprints, works from sketches or verbal instructions
- Maintains all types of forklifts and keeps in operating condition
- Contributes to the design and fabrication of production fixtures and racks
- Carries out preventative maintenance program for all production equipment, mechanical devices, building and land, including maintaining maintenance records and preventive maintenance checklists.
- Basic working knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
What it takes
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum three (3) years of previous experience in general maintenance
- Significant electrical work to repair or maintain company equipment.
- A working knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical systems.
- The ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, welding layouts, schematics, and complex electro mechanical assembly and / or erection directions.
- Must have a high awareness for safety at all times
- Perform and / or assist with maintenance tasks according to production needs to minimize downtime.
- Support manufacturing demands including working during non-peak hours (e.g. off shifts, holidays, weekends, etc. as required / assigned.
- Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) and work both in a non-temperature controlled environment and outdoors.
- The ability to work in a high volume, fast paced environment
- The ability to communicate and interact with coworkers in a positive manner
- Must be a person of passion and integrity who has the drive to excel and deliver exceptional results
- Other duties as required and / or assigned.
Highly qualified candidates will also possess :
- Five years of previous experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
- Five years of previous experience with overhead crane operations
- Five years of previous experience operating a forklift
- The ability to recognize and solve practical problems or issues
- The ability to recognize hazardous substances and to know basic employee responsibilities for chemical safety
