Job Description : The Electrical Field Superintendent is primarily responsible for supervising and coordinating the entire scope of work across job sites with crews of Foreman, Junior Foreman, Journeyman, Apprentice Electricians as well as sub-contractors.
A Superintendent will work through their direct reports to establish and adjust work timelines to meet the construction schedule for assigned projects, organize and coordinate all appropriate materials and equipment.
The Superintendent will also ensure all work is installed and completed on budget, on time, and accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards.
Essential Functions include but are not limited to : Analyzes and quickly resolves any work problems that may arise and ensures that all deficiencies on any given project are corrected in a timely manner.
Conducts quality control inspections. Coordinates with all other trades working on a job site to ensure smooth transitions.
Works to establish, adjust, and maintain work sequences to meet the construction schedule for a given project. Has a clear understanding of the latest edition of the NEC.
Ability to instruct and train workers to install and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. Experience testing electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures using testing devices.
Competencies : Must be capable of giving and following instructions, have good communication skills, and the ability to retain information.
Must be capable of identifying materials used in the trade. Must be capable of reading blueprints, legend symbols, determining scales of plans, branch circuits, one-line and riser diagrams.
Must be capable of reading A-Sheets, reflective ceiling, and detail drawings for layouts. Must be capable of installing raceways, PVC, EMT, Rigid, Flex, IMC and MC.
Must be capable of making up multiple circuits with multiple grounded conductors and trim out devices. Must be able to install and terminate service entrance sections, distribution centers, panel boards, transformers, disconnects, and motor controls.
Must be capable of reading and understanding special systems, including fire alarm and security. Must be familiar with hydraulic benders.
Recommended completion of (16) electrical continuing education credits. Must complete OSHA 30. Knowledgeable in all applicable software programs required.
Physical Demands : Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead. Lift over 50 lbs.
Stand 90% of the day. Climb ladders. Possess good vision (normal or corrected) Carry material from one location to another or floor to floor.
Lifting and work with tools above head. Lifting, positioning and fastening of heavy electrical equipment. Lifting, positioning and fastening objects such as light fixtures, wire, conduit, junction boxes, motors and other equipment.
Must be able to work from A-Frames, extension ladders, boom lift, scaffolds and aerial work platforms at various heights.
Identify and separate wires by color. Dig and work in trenches.
