Hazelcast appoints Anthony Griffin as Chief Architect

Hazelcast has announced the appointment of Anthony Griffin as its Chief Architect. Griffin joins from AWS Lambda where he was responsible for Language runtimes.

Hazelcast provides a real-time data platform that powers around three-quarters of the world’s payments platforms. Customers include HSBC, JP Morgan, Deutsche Bank, BNP Paribas, TD Bank, Maybank, Credit Suisse and enterprises such as Volvo, Target and Nissan.

Hazelcast has made several senior appointments recently as it continues its growth trajectory after record results in 2023 .

In November 2023, it appointed Adrian Soars as its Chief Technology Officer (CTO). In April this year it announced Dr. Stephen Weston as its chief scientist.

Adrian Soars commented, Anthony’s background in serverless compute will be instrumental in guiding our product strategy and addressing the needs of our customers as they encounter the data-intensive workloads of mission-critical and AI applications.

While the majority of our customers are the world’s largest financial enterprises, his experience will help all industries navigate the changing technology landscape and solve the data challenges they face daily, especially after an application’s deployment.

Griffin will focus his efforts on the evolution of Hazelcast’s unified real-time data platform. He will lead efforts to maintain its leadership position as a high-performance data platform.

An indication of that is its inclusion in several Gartner Hype Cycle Market reports last year. He will also work closely with the leading brands, especially the Global 2,000 customer base, to ensure the Hazelcast technology combined with customer tech stacks delivers the performance, resilience, and scalability required to modernize mission-critical and AI applications.

Who is Anthony Griffin? Anthony Griffin, Chief Architect at Hazelcast

Griffin joins from AWS, where he was a Senior Software Development Manager. Prior to that, he led technology teams in Financial Services, including Danske Bank, Nomura, Nat West and HSBC.

Early in his career, Griffin was a Software Architect at Accenture and IBM before joining Channel 4 as a technical architect.

He has deep experience in the financial services industry, with over 25 years working in technology. He has experience in building reactive low-latency trading systems and AI-based trade monitoring platforms.

Griffin commented, Hazelcast’s reputation of simplifying the complex world of distributed compute technologies is one I’ve long admired.

With enterprises shifting focus and budget to expedite their AI initiatives, my goal is to ensure our platform mitigates their day zero data infrastructure challenges.
