Position Summary

Anticipated Hiring Hourly Range : $19.00 - $22.50 per hour

This position provides support to the nursing unit across both the MSN and BSN programs. The Clinical Placement Specialist works closely with the MSN Family Nurse Practitioner students and assistant directors of the MSN and BSN programs to support the students’ clinical field experiences.

These placements align with students’ program tracks and are intended to meet the standards of Fresno Pacific University’s nursing unit.

The Clinical Placement Specialist is dedicated to supporting students by developing and implementing plans for clinical placements, by reviewing program and student clinical site requests, and by facilitating document collection and approvals.

This position proactively communicates with students to ensure understanding and timely completion of required documentation and approvals and assists students throughout their program in maintaining up-to-date documentation.

Duties :

  • Manage content and structure of department systems with respect to clinical placement. These may include, but are not limited to, Typhon, Toolkit, and / or Complio.
  • Confidentially establish and maintain faculty, student clinical, clinic / agency and preceptor files. Notify Chief Nurse Administrator and / or Program Directors of contracts forecasted to expire, issues with licensure, etc.
  • Communicate with the director or associate director when students are flagged with respect to background checks, drug screening, and maintaining compliance.

Serve as main point of contact for Complio.

  • Assist the BSN Assistant Director and MSN Faculty Clinical Coordinator with San Joaquin Valley Central Computerized Placement System when placing at valley hospitals or their satellite clinic locations.
  • Guide and track students in completing background checks, monitoring other requirements. within the structure of CCPS.
  • Assist program assistant directors with obtaining all clinical documents and agreements (dress code, expectations, COVID release) from students.

Coordinate students receiving FPU Clinical ID.

  • Manage Clinical Affiliation Agreements from the initial stages through to execution including maintaining documentation in the nursing unit’s shared file store, curation of MOU listings, as well as creating clinic and preceptor files.
  • Establish clinics and preceptors within Typhon. Serve as sub-administrator.
  • Work with counterparts of clinics, agencies, counties, and hospitals to coordinate contracts.
  • Review documentation, pull preceptor licensure, and assist the program assistant directors in reviewing new preceptor qualifications to ensure compliance with CCNE requirements.
  • Collaborate with the MSN Assistant Director to conduct individual Clinical Binder Checks with students at conclusion of each practicum while maintaining organization for the MSN Student Clinical Portfolios.
  • Track cohort clinical documentation and hours.
  • Prepare acknowledgement letters for preceptors at the direction of the Assistant Director(s).
  • Track licensure for all MSN students, faculty, practicum supervisors, and preceptors. Track licensure, post-graduation, for all BSN students.
  • Tabulate course / practicum / clinical provider surveys and provide reports to Chair and MSN / BSN Program Directors.
  • Assist with student forms for the BRN, provide verification to the program directors for all graduation clinical requirements and work with the Registrar’s Office once degree conferral occurs to submit applications to BRN.
  • Complete tasks timely with work that is comprehensive, complete, and accurate.
  • Communicates clearly, listens attentively, and seeks to understand others.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong writing, analytical, problem-solving, and organization skills including the ability to perform basic research.
  • Experience with commonly used office equipment.
  • Proficiency with MS Office 365, LMS, and other CRMs including but not limited to Moodle, Skype Business, Teams, SharePoint, Adobe, Typhon, Complio, Toolkit, and Zoom.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
  • Ability to be flexible and to shift priorities to accommodate major projects, critical or time sensitive tasks, or to accommodate multi-tasking to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of the team.
  • Ability to maintain a proper decorum when providing customer service for students, faculty, and community stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and collegiality in all aspects of student, staff, faculty, department, university, and agency, clinic or doctor / FNP partnerships.

Qualifications

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree required in social work, business management, health care administration or a related field and
  • 2+ years of experience in educational or healthcare administration -or-
  • 3+ years of experience with general office administrative responsibilities, procedures, and equipment, -or-
  • any equivalent combination of experience and / or education from which comparable knowledge, skills & abilities have been achieved.
  • Experience in social administration including training staff and / or conducting orientations.
  • Commitment to the Christian mission and faith profession of Fresno Pacific University.

Environmental Conditions :

  • Indoors in a normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes at least eighty percent (80%) of the time.
  • Frequent computer use at a workstation, up to eight hours per day.
  • Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
  • Drive personal or University vehicles to appointments.
  • Public contact position requiring professional apparel, personal hygiene, and grooming.

Physical Demands :

This position typically functions indoors in an office environment with light to moderate noise associated with business office equipment.

The position may involve travel for meetings and events.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to : remain in a stationary position 80 % of the time, be able to move about inside the office to access file cabinets / office machinery etc.

The employee is occasionally required to position self to reach items on the floor and in high cabinetry.
