PORT PROJECT AREA DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST
The Port Project Area Development Specialist will assist in the creation and optimization of Port Project Areas IAW U.C.
A. 11-58-5 at a statewide level. This individual will support the Statewide and Regional Associate Vice Presidents (AVP) in business development initiatives by efficiently managing multiple tasks and fostering effective communication.
This role requires a proactive individual with strong organizational skills to facilitate Request For Information (RFI) submissions, coordinate corporate recruitment efforts, and support business retention and expansion strategies.
The ideal candidate will also provide logistical support, ensure statutory compliance, and engage with various stakeholders across public, private, and non-profit sectors.
Collaboration with the marketing and communications team will be essential, along with administrative support before, during, and after conferences and trade shows.
They will possess the ability to create, collect and / or display data through reports or dashboards and provide scheduling assistance when needed.
This position will report directly to the Associate Vice President of Statewide Project Area Development (who reports to the Vice President of Business Development), and will also report indirectly to the Regional Associate Vice Presidents.
RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES
The essential responsibilities of the job are listed below. Other duties may also be assigned.
Perform administrative tasks at the request and under the direction of the Statewide Associate Vice President. These tasks relate to supporting the Regional AVPs in the creation and optimization of Port Project Areas.
Perform administrative tasks at the request and under the direction of the Regional AVPs to increase the administrative bandwidth dedicated to creating and optimizing Port Project Areas.
Engage in business and stakeholder outreach under the direction of the AVPs.
Document tasks and interactions in office CRM.
Actively participate in business recruitment and expansion efforts for the Port Authority.
Act on behalf of the Associate Vice Presidents under their direction.
Report regularly to the Associate Vice President of Statewide Project Area Development.
Work and collaborate with other vertical programs within the Port Authority central office to further the goals and objectives of the Port Authority.
Travel as needed - locally, nationally, and internationally.
Attend conferences, trade shows, and open houses, and participate in other outreach activities.
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS
The following are the ideal qualifications that an individual should possess to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of this position :
Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Finance, Communications, or other similar disciplines (preferred but not required).
One (1) year of experience or education in one of the following : Business Development, Client Relations, Account Management, Public Finance, Logistics, Government Relations, Communications, and / or related disciplines.
Experience in presenting, simplifying, and communicating complex plans to colleagues and stakeholders.
Ability to write clearly and professionally.
Ability to document and report daily accomplishments and activities in a concise manner.
Possess strong communication skills (both written and verbal), and exhibit a high level of interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to create engaging marketing materials : print, digital, static, and dynamic content.
Demonstrate familiarity with and ability to learn and use software in the following categories : Enterprise email and calendaring, Customer Relationship Management software, Project / Task Management, Basic Graphic Design, and Desktop Publishing.

THE AGENCY
The Utah Inland Port Authority (UIPA) was created in 2018 by the Utah State Legislature. UIPA is an independent, nonprofit, separate body corporate and politic, with perpetual succession;
a political subdivision of the state; and a public corporation. The purpose of UIPA is to fulfill the statewide public purpose of working in concert with applicable state and local government entities, property owners and other private parties, and other stakeholders to encourage and facilitate development of the jurisdictional land and other project areas to maximize the long-term economic and other benefit for the state, consistent with the strategies, policies, and objectives described in the authorizing statutory authority.
