Seasonal (October - March), PRN, Day and Night Shifts Available
Overview : Support nursing and medical staff in the Emergency Department by performing patient care, environmental tasks, and managing supplies and equipment.
Essential Duties :
- Assist RNs and physicians with patient care
- Document vital signs, perform phlebotomy, IV starts, EKGs, and point-of-care testing
- Transport patients and place them on monitors
- Perform wound care and obtain lab specimens
- Conduct urine drug screens and breathalyzer tests
- Assist with physical exams and procedures
- Apply orthopedic splints and fit patients for crutches
- Maintain cleanliness of patient care areas and equipment
- Ensure adequate supply of lab and stock room items
- Perform POC and QC lab testing
- Maintain temperature logs and change Sharp’s containers
- Recognize and report equipment malfunctions
- Stock necessary equipment and supplies
- Perform quality control procedures and calibrations
- Ensure proficiency testing compliance
- Monitor send-out lab procedures
- Stay updated on new testing methods and technologies
- Interact professionally with all department members and patients
Safety / Infection Control :
Adhere to safety, emergency preparedness, infection control, OSHA, fire safety, and hazardous materials regulations
Customer Service :
- Maintain patient confidentiality
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills
- Treat all patients, visitors, and staff with respect
- Communicate procedures and care effectively
ER Policy :
- Maintain a clean and neat appearance
- Wear ER identification at all times
- Attend required meetings and in-service education
- Demonstrate flexibility in staffing and assignments
Qualifications :
- Must be a paramedic
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a flight medic or EMT-P (or equivalent)
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and medical professionals
- Basic computer skills
- Current EMT (or equivalent) certification preferred
