We seek an ambitious pacesetter to join our team as a Senior Electrical Engineer in Logan, Utah. You'll be a perfect fit if you have a passion for hardware development, excellent analytical skills, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Design electrical components and entire systems for the product development and hardware engineering teams. Create new designs for innovative fitness products.

Develop complete HW solutions and BOM and assist in creating testing procedures for these designs. Support electronic equipment on existing devices.

Review and approve new or revised designs, testing, or installation procedures. Ensure engineering projects are appropriately costed and on time and that project objectives are achieved.

Provide professional development guidance to junior engineers. Possess extensive engineering experience and knowledge. A master's degree in electrical engineering may be required.

Report to the Director of Electrical Engineering and regularly work with key stakeholders.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Senior Electrical Engineer responsible for designing and developing fitness equipment in the iFIT Corporate office. Have previously shipped high-volume consumer products.
  • Deep understanding of electrical engineering principles in both analogue and digital domains with the ability to leverage this understanding to isolate circuit faults quickly.
  • Familiarity with high-speed test equipment; oscilloscopes, data acquisition units, DMMs, logic & spectrum analyzers - solid test & troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to guide and oversee layout designers and provide clear layout constraints (board stack-up, component placement, high-speed routing, etc.).
  • A key contributor to high-level architecture and design of electronic systems focused on fitness equipment.
  • Design of high-speed mixed-signal circuits, schematic entry, PCB layout and assembly supervision, board debugging, and system integration.
  • Impact all phases of the product development cycle, which includes requirement / definition, design and development, verification (such as unit tests), traceability matrix, and design transfer.
  • Develop or identify tools and methods that allow reutilization of designs.
  • Provide technical oversight and review support to development teams during product design and development.
  • Understanding of various motor controllers & control systems. Brushed and brushless motors and linear actuators.
  • Designing boards with ALTIUM or equivalent PCB layout tools (Cadence OrCAD Capture and Allegro, etc.).
  • Experience with signal integrity analysis and simulation.
  • Good knowledge of power supplies & PFC.
  • Experience with ARM-based CPU architectures and high-speed interfaces such as USB, HDMI, and MIPI, along with I2C, SPI, UART, etc.
  • Experience performing trade studies / tradeoff analyses.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and facilitation skills.
  • Coordinate with other iFit internal departments to engineer and develop a product that Asian Contract Manufacturers will manufacture.
  • Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and product validation activities to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, development and customer support, to provide feedback and input on product design, performance optimisation, and design for manufacturability.
  • Participate in establishing goals and metrics to measure effectiveness from the design through the production process.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Electrical Engineering Design and Development. Complete complex electro-mechanical designs in manufacturing and production.

A strong understanding of DFx, manufacturing processes and reliable designs to maximise product quality and produce on time.

  • Has in-depth experience with contract manufacturing support for multiple products, which will be provided through an NPI process.
  • Execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts to validate hardware products' performance, functionality, and durability.
  • Conduct thoroughly validated hardware designs to ensure compliance with specifications, requirements and quality standards.
  • Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting of hardware defects and implement preventive measures for malfunctions to minimise future occurrences.
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in hardware testing methodologies and apply them to improve the overall quality of our products.
  • Has in-depth experience in support for multiple products through an NPI process.
  • Has product design and management experience, demonstrates advanced proficiency, and can mentor others.
  • Manage product cost estimates during development and to the supply chain.
  • Fluent with computers, Google Docs, Excel, Arena, Slack, Atlassian etc.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing BOMs, ECOs, tolerances, engineering drawings, and assembly instructions.
  • Ability to travel overseas on an occasional basis to Asia (10 to 15%).
  • Experience in working with Asia-based suppliers and supply chains.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • B.S. in Engineering (Mechanical / Manufacturing) from a 4-year accredited college / university or 12+ years of direct relevant experience.
  • Six Sigma certification or experience is a plus.
  • 5+ years of proven engineering experience emphasizing product development and manufacturing.
  • 4+ years of proven senior-level experience in an Engineering team.
