About the role

The SVP, Member & Provider Operations role evolves the vision and strategy for our Member and Provider departments including Strategic Insights, Production and Optimization.

This role owns and leads the department that engages with Oscar’s members, providers and brokers in thoughtful and innovative ways, while building an efficient and effective production organization at scale.

Tasked with connecting the voice of the customer to Oscar’s vision and strategy to enable Oscar’s mission.

You will report to the Chief Operating Officer.

Oscar is a blended work culture where everyone, regardless of work type or location, feels connected to their teammates, our culture and our mission.

If you live within commutable distance to our New York City office (in Hudson Square), our Tempe office (off the 101 at University Dr), or our Los Angeles office (in Marina Del Rey), you will be expected to come into the office at least two days each week.

Otherwise, this is a remote / work-from-home role.

Pay Transparency :

The base pay for this role is : $308,800 - $405,300 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, participation in Oscar’s unlimited vacation program, company equity grants, and annual performance bonuses.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Technology teams, Network / Markets team and other key stakeholders to define the overarching Member and Provider Experience Strategy.
  • Set a high level vision for Oscar’s customer experience production and optimization departments.
  • Oversee frontline staff of 1,000+ individuals that engages directly with members, providers, and brokers.
  • Create and manage a sophisticated staffing model that enables consistent execution, taking advantage of flexible internal resources and outsourced BPO vendors.
  • Be accountable for departmental financial performance and managing to a strategic budget ensuring company success.
  • Drive voice of the customer insights to propel stakeholders in managing members' health and wellbeing, engendering high satisfaction from the interactions external stakeholders have with Oscar.
  • Liaise with the Board of Directors and executive leadership.
  • Build a team of talented, diverse executives who become company leaders in their own right, and serve as a leader across the operations team and the company at large.
  • Drive continuous improvement to enable the organization to scale efficiently and effectively in line with Oscar’s long-term vision.
  • Form strong working relationships with key internal stakeholders across the company to solve problems and apply creative technology solutions to workflows and processes.
  • Ensure functions are in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • 20+ years experience in operations and strategy ownership.
  • 10+ years experience leading teams in health insurance.
  • 10+ years direct leadership experience.
  • 10+ years experience in healthcare analytics, reporting and data management.
