The Sleep Lab Technologist is responsible for the following :
- Prepares patients and equipment for procedures.
- Obtains medical history from patients / families to identify and meet patient-specific needs. (e.g., physical / mental limitations, current physiological status regarding the testing procedure).
- Reviews procedure request provided by ordering physician and complies with all standard lab protocols.
- Performs polysomnograms according to hospital and laboratory standards and protocols; routine and specialized PSG, and other specialized procedures to meet the procedure request / goals of the study.
- Perform routine and complex equipment care and maintenance, troubleshoots technical problems with equipment, and coordinate repairs as needed with appropriate personnel.
- Keeps equipment clean and in proper working order.
- Attend monthly technical staff meetings providing professional input for the development of procedures and protocols for the Center.
- Participate in professional meetings on a local, regional, and national basis.
The Sleep Lab Technologist must have the following :
- High School Diploma / GED
- Graduate of sleep technologist program
