  • Previous broadcast technical experience or equivalent academic training.
  • Previous experience with circuit-level troubleshooting or information technology systems is preferred.
  • SBE Certification preferred at any level
  • Must be flexible and able to deal with unexpected changes calmly. Ability to work well under pressure while multi-tasking to meet tight deadlines and stressful situations.
  • Must follow directions and instructions well, solve problems, and seek solutions.
  • Must be a Strong team player who works well with others. Fosters a spirit of cooperation and helpfulness.
  • Must be able to work various hours including nights, weekends, and holidays. Schedules may vary.
  • Ability to work in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to see and hear to ensure accurate visual and sound broadcasts.
  • Must have manual dexterity to operate technical controls.
  • Must have valid drivers license

Compensation and Benefits When extending an offer, the company considers a variety of factors such as (but not limited to) the candidate's work experience, education / training & key skills as well as internal peer equity and other market and business considerations.

The hourly rate of pay for this position is $28 to $38 per hour. This is a full time 40 hour a week position.

The above range represents the company’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

The Control Room Operator is responsible for the broadcast program accuracy, transmission monitoring, media content quality control, and audio mixing.

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing the stations' technical infrastructure.

A person in this position may also drive and operate and maintain the stations' remote transmission vehicles. Job Responsibilities

  • Constantly monitors and maintains on-air accuracy of the stations' broadcast content and correct operation of the stations' transmitting stations.
  • Ensures the timely and accurate switching of audio and video signals for broadcast through Master Control.
  • Verifies and edits automation playlists to accurately reflect schedules in the stations' logs throughout his or her shift and a portion of subsequent shifts.
  • Records time-of-day events accurately in the stations' logs and maintains other records as necessary.
  • Correctly operates all technical equipment in Master Control. Communicates technical problems to maintenance staff or engineering managers.
  • Shares information with the operator on the subsequent shift regarding technical difficulties or unresolved issues with programming or equipment.
  • Responsible for the acquisition and distribution (A&D) of media content via satellite or file-based delivery ("Pathfire", "Pitch Blue").
  • Operates computers, servers, and routers for acquisition & distribution including file format transcoding, program preparation ("segmenting"), and storage management (removing outdated content).
  • Operates audio acquisition and mixing equipment for news and other programming ensuring accuracy and quality in sound production.
  • Ensures correct operation of microphones, and talent cueing (IFB) systems.
  • Responsible for installing and testing new equipment, low-voltage wiring, or technical systems.
  • Keeps technical equipment in good working order including preventative and corrective maintenance, and recordkeeping.
  • Works with other team members on major projects.
  • May tune live news reports via microwave and satellite receivers, or bonded cellular servers.
  • Seeks opportunities to expand skills and abilities; demonstrates initiative to learn new tasks, duties, and technology
  • Offers suggestions that would enhance or improve workplace practices.
  • Reports to work on time and works established schedule / hours.
  • Ability to work other hours or alternate schedules including overtime as needed.
  • Completes other duties as requested and needed.
  • Prepares and drives vehicles equipped with remote transmission equipment (microwave or satellite) to and from stories under various driving conditions (locally or nationally).
  • Requires working outside in all weather conditions.
  • Obeys all traffic laws and safety rules of the road while in a company vehicle.
  • Reports problems or concerns with the vehicle and traffic incidents promptly to appropriate company representative.
  • Keeps vehicles clean and in good condition.
  • Performs daily preventative maintenance on broadcast equipment and makes repairs as required, conducts daily vehicle checks including oil and coolant levels on engines and generators to ensure they are in good working condition.
  • Performs routine vehicle safety checks.
  • Notifies engineering maintenance staff and managers of needed repairs.
  • Operates video, audio, mechanical, and generator equipment in the vehicles for broadcasts.
  • Must be capable of lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 60 lbs.
  • Installs video and audio cables for temporary use (securely to prevent tripping) up to several hundred feet (indoors or outdoors).
