Job Description
The Assistant / Associate Director for Alumni Operations andStrategic Initiatives will report to the Director for Alumni Operations andStrategic Initiatives and will serve as liaison to the Career Center for theAlumni Association, working in conjunction with the Associate Director forEmployer Engagement and Associate Vice President (AVP) for Career Services and IntegratedLearning.
The incumbent will execute planning for new and existing career engagementopportunities, serve as the Alumni Association event lead for Endeavor and otherCareer Center partnership events, and work in collaboration with UniversityAdvancement (UA) colleagues and fundraisers to identify opportunities forprospects and donors to become engaged with the Career Center.
The Assistant / Associate Director for Alumni Operations willoversee Eagle Exchange, BC’s online networking platform, leading the alumniside of the platform, including setting communication and outreach strategies,day-to-day operations, and collaborating with the Career Center.
In addition,they will manage Career Education content and programming offerings, determinedwithin the Boston College Alumni Association (BCAA) benefits program.
More broadly, the Assistant / Associate Director will serve asthe Alumni Association event lead for signature programs including but notlimited to family engagement offerings, volunteer training and educationsessions, other programs aligned as a strategic initiative.
The incumbent will serve as the project lead forthe BCAA’s Annual Report and, in collaboration with the Director, lead themanagement of the Alumni Engagement Metrics program including maintaining dataintegrity, designing, producing, and analyzing quarterly and annual metrics,and making recommendations for data-informed strategy.
The Assistant / AssociateDirector will also build and develop new Strategic Initiatives programs,creating best practices while aligned with industry standards.
The Assistant / Associate Director is a part of the Operationsand Strategic Initiatives team, which represents the Office of the AVP forAlumni Relations, and will often assist the Director in supporting theoperations of five BCAA Board meetings per year, and in addition will managethe Board Mentoring Committee.
The Assistant / Associate Director will supervisora graduate intern, a practicum student, as well as student workers as needed.
Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following titles and hiring ranges :
First Level Assistant Director $57, $72,
Second Level Assistant Director $63, $79,
Associate Director $70, $88,
Requirements
This position requires aBachelor’s degree.
The entry level Assistant Director requires 1-3 yearsprofessional work experience, preferably in alumni relations, volunteermanagement, fundraising, event planning, marketing, business, projectmanagement, or non-profit related experience, preferably at an institution ofhigher education or non-profit.
The next level Assistant Director requires 3-5 years ofprofessional work experience, preferably in alumni relations, volunteermanagement, fundraising, event planning, marketing, business, projectmanagement, or non-profit related experience, preferably at an institution ofhigher education or non-profit.
This Associate Directorrequires a minimum of five years of professional work experience, preferably inalumni relations, volunteer management, fundraising, event planning, marketing,business, project management, or non-profit related experience, preferably atan institution of higher education or non-profit.
Additionally, applicantsneed to demonstrate the ability to lead and motivate others toward a goal andhandle difficult conversations.
Must be able to work independently andmanage multiple projects, setting deadlines and ensuring programaccountability. Must be able manage, track, and analyze data and able to maintainconfidentiality of frequently sensitive information.
Proficiencywith Google Drive products; Microsoft Office suite; familiarity with Blackbaud orother alumni software; event management experience is critical.
Some travel, evening and weekend work isrequired.
