Division of Development and Alumni Relations The Division of Development and Alumni Relations at the University of Georgia advances the goals, objectives, and priorities of the university by generating private financial support, building, and maintaining relationships with alumni and donors, and assisting students with career development opportunities.

Career Center The University of Georgia Career Center is the provider of centralized career services to undergraduate, graduate students, and alumni at The University of Georgia.

Career Center staff work collaboratively with faculty and staff of all departments to enhance the career success of University of Georgia students / alumni.

Several of the nuts & bolts services the UGA Career Center provides to its students include career counseling, job search training, and opportunities to connect with employers.

The Career Center also serves as a corporate gateway to the University by helping employers meet key faculty / staff, understand culture and curriculum, and successfully recruit UGA students and alumni.

A broad group of corporate, government, and nonprofit employers recruit at The University of Georgia, and the Career Center facilitates this process through career fairs, on-campus interviews, and a variety of recruiting and educational programs and events.

Position Summary :

Reporting to the Executive Director of the Career Center, this position serves as a vital leadership team member on the Career Center team, innovating and designing initiatives to better support the career development of students and contributing in significant ways on Career Center committees.

This position holds primary focus on all Career Center career development practices and programmatic efforts, including diversity, graduate student, arch ready, career counseling and coaching, and outreach programs.

The position is also responsible for developing and leading all talent management (recruiting, onboarding, training) initiatives for the career consultant and graduate assistant staff.

This position interacts with various groups of important external constituents as well as internal stakeholders at all levels of the university.

Independent judgment is needed to plan, prioritize, and organize diversified workload and recommend changes in student and alumni career development practices and / or procedures.

  • Experience in leading / managing a team of direct reports.

Duties / Responsibilities :

  • Direct Career Development functional area of the Career Center, serving on Career Center Administrative Team, and leading Career Consultant Supervisor Team engaging in office-wide strategic planning, personnel management, and operations oversight for the Career Center.
  • Supervise Assistant Director Team and Career Consultants serving several colleges and schools. Provide guidance through team and individual meetings, semester reports, strategic planning meetings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Develop performance initiatives and expectations for employees reporting to this position. Mentor and evaluate his / her performance annually.
  • Leverage engagement metrics, career development program insights, and needs assessment data to inform departmental decisions.

  • Oversee office-wide career programming, including Arch Ready Professionalism Certificate Program, diversity programming, and graduate student programming.
  • Coordinate all outreach program requests from other UGA departments & organizations.
  • Organize professional development and training sessions for Career Consultant Team focused on career development topics and presentation skills.

Percentage of time :

  • Lead talent management strategy initiatives, including recruiting, hiring, training, mentoring, and managing the three-year career consultant leadership program designed to develop, enhance, and retain Career Consultants.
  • Oversee the training and onboarding for incoming graduate assistants and career development interns each academic year.

  • Assist with marketing Arch Ready Professionalism Certificate Program, self-paced career development modules, Career Center diversity and inclusion events, and Graduate Student programming.
  • Provide planning and staffing support for office-wide career fairs and events that promote the career development of students and alumni.
