Responsibilities
Job Summary
The Senior Director of Emergency and Traumas acts as a network-wide leader developing service line strategy, standardization of clinical management and operational direction, as well as leadership for of all campuses.
Serves as the emergency and trauma network leader as it relates to financial planning, personnel standardization, staff development, physician and outreach development, driving quality initiatives and cost control.
Responsible for strategic oversight over all network sites to drive systemness, decreased variation in care, and improved safety and quality for our patients.
Responsible for hospital physician relationships / collaboration and meeting / exceeding performance metrics. Assures evidence-based patient care by creating an environment that encourages the use of research in practice.
Provides leadership in the development and enhancement of Emergency Services and American College of Surgeons (ACS) verified Trauma programs at all HH facilities.
Directs development of the network strategic business plan short and long-term growth and performance. Assesses competitive market for services and recommends potential opportunities and strategies.
Fosters collaborative partnerships with medical staff, members of the organization, and community. Uses evidence-based knowledge in decision making to improve and maintain high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
Responsible for budgets and operational direction of emergency and trauma programs system-wide. Responsible for implementation of initiatives to enhance the patient experience throughout the continuum of care.
Responsible for hospital-physician relationship development and successful collaborations within Emergency and Trauma Services.
Responsible for successful collaborations with internal and external partners around improving patient care. Provide leadership in the development and expansion of new and existing Emergency and Trauma services to ensure patients across the system have access.
Collaborates successfully with internal departments and key external partners to improve both the quality of care, as well as patient and physician satisfaction utilizing best practice standards.
Maintains quality and outcome data related emergency and trauma services using national benchmarks.
In partnership with facility executive leadership, oversees the staff and ensure adequate staffing levels, inclusive of hiring / onboarding, evaluating, managing performance, coaching and developing employees ensuring employee productivity, quality of work, and alignment of goals with our mission, vision, and values.
Ensure compliance with all policies, financial stewardship by being accountable for the financial integrity around development and maintenance of department budget.
Provide leadership and oversight for all ACS requirements and trauma verifications system wide. Responsible for successful collaboration of performance improvement programs and trauma registry databases within trauma services.
Creates an environment supportive of innovation. Maximizes the efficient use of resources. Encourages employee engagement, creativity, process improvement and evidence-based solutions.
Develops evaluation methods and metrics to measure results.
Implements and is responsible for meeting key strategies, goals and initiatives regarding service line financial health, cost-control, referral volumes, quality, and physician alignment to enhance performance.
Does so in support of system-wide strategic initiatives. Sets budgets for programs in partnership with Vice President.
- In partnership with the Network EMS Medical Director, responsible for all pre-hospital and internal paramedic program initiatives.
- Works with Leadership to develop, maintain and deliver on performance metrics and analytics. Provides the design and implementation of best practices, streamlining referral linkages across the continuum of care, improving patient access and assessing the need for process improvement.
Assist in developing focused marketing and business development strategies. Partners with Clinical Directors, Medical Directors, physicians to understand strategy and collaboration within the Emergency and Trauma programs.
Facilitates the development of centers of excellence and other program certifications, accreditations and distinctions for the emergency and trauma programs, which foster the most effective and efficient delivery of high quality patient care.

Education
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited NLN institution Required
Experience
5 years supervisory experience in ED nursing administration / management Required
Licenses and Certifications
Registered Nurse (RN) State And / Or Compact State Licensure Current and valid State of Arizona registered nurse (RN) license Required
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Current and valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification Required
Nursing TNCC - Trauma Nursing Core Course Current and valid Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) Certification Required
