Job Description

V2X is seeking a Senior Production Support Engineering Manager to join our Hardware Engineering team in Indianapolis, IN supporting the development and manufacturing of advanced airborne systems including podded communication link and sensor systems, airborne armament equipment, alternate mission equipment, cockpit displays, avionics, and radar systems.

Our Indianapolis facility also supports a variety of other product lines serving multiple Department of Defense (DoD) customers providing the opportunity to work on a diverse set of programs and roles supporting the continued advancement of your career.

The candidate will be responsible for the management and continuous improvement of 12+ engineers.

The Senior Production Support Engineering Manager will play a pivotal role in the success and growth of the hardware department by aligning the Production Support engineering team with the company’s vision and collaborating with other core disciplines.

This role involves staffing, mentoring / coaching, fostering trust, leading change, and driving continuous improvement. The manager will be committed to managing employee relations and cultivating talent, while ensuring accountability and collaboration.

The role requires team leadership skills, negotiation skills, innovation, customer focus, and critical thinking.

The Senior Production Support Engineering Manager will be a key stakeholder in the planning and execution of current and future programs.

This role will propose technical solutions that include developing basis of estimates, risks and opportunities, and execution plans.

Additionally, this role is responsible for staffing to meet the program demand, including hiring skilled professionals, forecasting future needs, identifying and resolving skill gaps, and preparing the team for upcoming execution.

The Senior Production Support Engineering Manager is responsible for overseeing the technical execution of the team across all programs.

This includes driving accountability and ensuring clear expectations. This role will provide subject matter expertise, direction, and guidance on complex engineering projects.

This role will instill customer focus across the team to ensure that the products meet customer’s needs, and that tasks are completed on time and within budget.

Additionally, this roll will ensure critical thinking and sound decision-making across the team while making informed decisions that benefit the organization and our customers.

Finally, the Senior Production Support Engineering Manager is responsible for the overall management of the Production Support engineering team.

The role will drive continuous improvement throughout the team and engineering organization. The candidate will continually drive improvements in processes, tools, technologies, and personnel.

This requires cross functional collaboration, exceptional communication, understanding of the market, and strategic thinking.

This enables the Senior Engineering Manager to anticipate industry trends and position the team for long-term success. The candidate is responsible for the management of everyone on the team, including performance development and talent cultivation by mentoring, providing growth opportunities, and recognizing potential.

To be considered for the Senior Production Support Engineering Manager role, the candidate should have expertise in manufacturing of airborne or DoD hardware.

The candidate shall also have experience working in a transition to production environment and be skilled in working with cross functional teams that include design engineering and manufacturing operations.

Required Skills

  • Technical expertise in manufacturing of electromechanical systems.
  • Experience with military and / or aerospace standards
  • Project leadership experience that includes the planning, scheduling, budgeting, and managing engineering projects
  • Excellent communication skills; both verbal and written
  • Experience working on production programs that include internally and externally manufactured components.
  • Experience working in MRP systems to track materials and manufacturing planning.
  • Experienced with design of tooling and development of manufacturing procedures.
  • Experience providing technical mentoring to junior engineers
  • Effective delegation, organizational, and prioritization skills
  • Sound problem solving and decision-making
  • Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
  • Conflict resolution experience
  • High degree of independence and adaptability
  • A minimum of 10 years of related professional experience
  • Ability to travel to government and other facilities in support of program activities
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required

Desired Skills

  • Prior experience managing engineers for an aerospace or DoD company
  • Multi-disciplinary knowledge and proficiency in engineering
  • Experience with complex mechanical and electrical assemblies, complex machining, advanced manufacturing techniques (Additive Manufacturing), and / or composites.
  • Experience with a solid modeling CAD tool such as CREO or equivalent
  • Experience with SAP S / 4HANA
  • Experience with engineering drawings and familiarity with military drawing standards
  • Knowledge of innovative documentation methods such as model based work instructions and paperless shopfloor.
  • Master’s or PHD in Aerospace, Industrial, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering
  • Current DoD security clearance

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) degree program
