SUMMARY : Maintains a clean, safe and healthy building environment at all times. Work involves cleaning and maintaining assigned facilities within the center.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. On a daily schedule, this position must provide the following services :
- Wet mop tile floor areas in classrooms and bathrooms.
- Sweep and clean aggregate floor in foyer.
- Vacuum carpets in hallways and office areas.
- Clean front interior entry to building and office areas.
- Clean and sanitize restroom floors, walls, sinks, and toilets.
- Re-supply all related paper products.
- Remove trash and garbage from assigned areas and place in proper containers.
- Shovel snow from sidewalks and de-ice as needed.
- Operate custodial equipment, vacuum cleaners and carpet cleaning machines.
- Adhere to center safety policies.
- Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance.
- Note and report repairs that need to be made in the facility.
- Strip, burnish and wax tile floors on a scheduled basis.
- Clean carpets on a scheduled basis
- Do minor maintenance and repair work around facility and grounds
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

- Must be at least 18 years of age. Completion of high school degree or GED and 2 years of relevant experience.
- Meet Department of Early Learning requirements ( tb test, criminal background test, fingerprinting)
- Passing criminal background check is a condition of employment.
- Completing and passing a pre-employment drug screening test as a condition of employment.
- Demonstrated ability to perform job responsibilities as assigned.
Background check standards for Janitorial staff : No felonies or property crimes within past 5 years. No drug or alcohol arrests within one year and if currently enrolled drug and alcohol recovery program, employee will be required to provide continuing proof of compliance with program requirements including any prescribed testing and / or successful completion of the program.
LANGUAGE SKILLS : Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS : Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY : Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS : Must have a valid Washington State Driver’s License and pass a background check (no felonies or property crimes within five years;
no drug or alcohol arrests within one year and if currently enrolled in a drug or alcohol recovery program, employee will be required to provide continuing proof of compliance with program requirements including any prescribed testing and / or successful completion of the program).

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, vibration, and risk of electrical shock;
- and is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather), and must occasionally work near moving mechanical parts;
work in high, precarious places; and work in outdoor weather conditions. The noise level of this position is moderate, (i.
e. business office with computers, and printers, light traffic) and includes the noise associated with running a vacuum cleaner and a carpet shampooer.
DRUG FREE WORKPLACE : The successful candidate will be required to have a urinalysis for drug and alcohol screening in accordance with the Tribe’s Drug Free Workplace Policy.

Requirements :
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE : AA OR High School and 2 years OR Current High School Student in good standing or High School Diploma or GED and 1 year of relevant experience OR 3 years of relevant experience.
