Direct Support Professional

Job Summary : We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide essential care and support to individuals with disabilities in their homes.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in caregiving and a genuine passion for helping others achieve their fullest potential.

Key Responsibilities :

• Assist individuals with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and other personal care tasks.
• Accompany individuals on community outings and activities, ensuring safety and engagement.
• Prepare and serve nutritious meals while adhering to individual dietary needs and preferences.
• Provide emotional support, companionship, and encouragement to foster a positive living environment.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment within the individuals' homes.
• Uphold and advocate for the rights and dignity of each individual at all times.
• Implement and follow individualized care plans, including specialized support for hospice care, dementia care, and other medical needs.

Qualifications and Skills :

• Prior experience in a direct support or caregiving role is highly preferred.
• Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and reliable personal transportation for use during work hours.
• Ability to prepare and cook healthy, nutritious meals.
• Strong understanding of individuals' rights and a commitment to advocacy.
• Professional demeanor with excellent time management skills.
• Comfort and experience working in individuals' homes, providing 1 : 1 support.
• Ability to handle physically demanding tasks, including lifting and transferring individuals to and from beds or wheelchairs.

Experience working with individuals who have dual diagnoses, including intellectual disabilities and mental health disorders such as depression or schizophrenia.

Other Qualifications :

Certification Requirements :

• First Aid & CPR Certification (Required) : Candidates must, at their own expense possess or obtain prior to starting, a current First Aid and Infant / Pediatric / Adult CPR certification to respond effectively in emergency situations.
• Current TB (1 Step) (Required) : Candidates must, at their own expense obtain a current 1-Step Tuberculosis (TB) test is required to ensure the health and safety of both staff and clients.

Prior test results may be used if obtained within the last year.

• Medication Training : Candidates must complete medication training at their own expense, with a cost of $50.
• Fingerprinting for Background Check : Fingerprinting for a background check is required, with costs starting at $50. These costs are not reimbursed by the agency.

Background Check Requirements :

If you have had any arrests within the last 7 years, including but not limited to DUIs, CPS involvement, or Domestic Violence, you may still qualify for this position.

However, you must pass a background check.

• Pay : $15.00 per hour
• Expected Hours : 20 40 hours per week
