Job Summary
Responsible for the overall accuracy and propriety of the Hospital's coding practices. Responsible for the overall implementation of APC's.
Monitors monthly CMI. Monitors Bill Hold on a daily basis. Insures current coding practices are in place. Assumes supervision of Health Information Management in the absence of the Director.
Establishes priorities for coding staff. Insures compliance with HCFA and Hospital coding guidelines.
Position Qualification :
EDUCATION :
Bach / Ass degree in HIM or successful completion of ICD-9 / CPT4 coding programs accredited by AHIMA.
ABILITIES AND SKILLS :
Requires eye hand coordination with good manual dexterity. Must be able to look at computer CRT most of the day and must be computer knowledgeable.
Must have excellent command of the English language, both oral and written. Must be organized.
EXPERIENCE :
RHIA, RHIT, or CCS certificate with 3 years of coding experience and 1 year supervisory experience.
RHIA, RHIT or CCS preferred.
Must have proven supervisor skills with 3 years experience in HIM setting.
Must be computer experienced and have knowledge of JCAHO, HCFA and licensure requirements.
LICENSE AND / OR CERTIFICATION :
RHIA, RHIT, or CCS preferred.
