General Description
The Student Employee is responsible for providing customer (student) assistance in addition to clerical and other general office support to the Office of Student Support Services.
Reports To Student Accessibility and Support Assistant What position(s) reports to this position? N / A Minimum Education / Experience Current OCCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours for the Fall or Spring semester or enrolled in a minimum of 3 credit hours for the Summer semester.
Current OCCC student with a Federal Work Study award. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Computer literate.

2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES :
This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to students, faculty, staff, and others to perform the essential functions of the position.
Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.
This position requires the person to frequently move about the Student Support Services office and OCCC campus to assist students and perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to occasionally position self to access materials or equipment and / or to assist students.
This position requires the person to occasionally ascend / descend a ladder, scaffolding, ramp, etc. to perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to use upper and lower body to exert force up to 20 pounds to grasp materials or equipment.
This position requires the person to frequently position self to access materials that may be above head or at ground level.
This position frequently requires the person to operate a computer and other equipment to perform the essential functions of the position.
This position requires the person to operate equipment that frequently involves repetitive motions of hands and wrists.
This position requires the person to perceive attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
3. VISUAL ACUITY :
This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.
4. WORKING CONDITIONS :
This position performs the essential functions in an indoor, office setting. Preferred Qualifications Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
Good phone skills and etiquette.
Customer service work experience.

Provide customer service via the telephone, forward calls and take messages as needed.
Check main phoneline voicemail and respond to messages.
Provide clerical tasks such as scanning and copying documents, filing and organizing materials, organizing office supplies and clerical tasks as requested.
Help to keep break room clean and organized, including weekly fridge cleanouts.
Help setup testers and prepare for next individual.
Assist students with check-in and filling out intake forms.
Prepare text in alternative formats (experience not required).
Input data into an electronic database.
Assist with set-up and execution of events and class presentations.
Make sure brochures and pamphlets stay stocked and proper authority is notified if running low.
Make deliveries to other offices or individuals on campus.
Complete specialized computer assignments, as needed.
Help update Community Resource Guide as needed.

Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.

Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation and shelter in place drills and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
