DESCRIPTION

The City of Corona has an exciting opportunity to join our Utilities Department as an Office Assistant . At Corona's Utilities Department, we strive to deliver the best customer service to all of our residents and businesses, with safety and reliability as our top priorities.

The Utilities Department is comprised of five divisions including Water, Wastewater, Reclaimed Water, Electric and Solid Waste.

There are many opportunities to collaborate with other state and local agencies as well as other departments and employees on a regular basis while working on day-to-day tasks and a variety of projects.

We provide a 4 / 10 work schedule (Mon-Thu) for most positions and rotating schedules for operations staff. We are continuously looking for ways to help our employees create and maintain a healthy work / life balance.

Education / Training / Experience :

  • Graduation from high school or G.E.D.
  • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible administrative support experience.

Skills / Abilities

  • Ability to understand and respond to requests for assistance from the public and City staff, both on the telephone and in person.
  • Ability to enter and prepare clear and accurate data for records and reports.
  • Ability to effectively use computer systems, software applications relevant to work performed, and modern business equipment to perform a variety of work tasks.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to organize and maintain office and specialized files.

This position is FLSA Non-Exempt, eligible for overtime compensation.

Application Process

Applications will be accepted until Sunday , November 10, 2024 at 5 : 00PM .

The selection process will consist of a review and evaluation of all applicants' qualifications. Those applicants deemed to possess the most desirable qualifications will be invited to participate in a written exam.

Applicants with the highest passing scores will be invited to participate in the o ral interview. The written exam is tentatively scheduled to take place on November 21, 2024 and the oral interview is tentatively scheduled to take place on December 4, 2024 .

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a reference / background including livescan and pass a pre-employment medical examination (which will include a drug / alcohol screening).

The Organization

The City of Corona is a General Law city operating under a Council-Manager form of government. Policy making and legislative authority is vested in the City Council, consisting of a Mayor and four Council Members.

Members of the City Council are elected by District to a four-year term. The Mayor is selected by the Council and serves as the presiding officer for one year.

The City is organized into the following departments / organizational units : Community Services, City Manager's Office, Economic Development, Finance, Fire, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal and Risk Management, Police, Planning & Development, Public Works and Utilities.

Oversight of these departments is divided between the City Manager and two Assistant City Managers.

The City's total operating budget for Fiscal Year 2024 is $ 369.9 million with a General Fund operating budget of $ 194.
