Title : Electrical Engineer
Location : Oklahoma City, OK
OVERVIEW :
Electrical Engineer to prepare designs and specifications related to industrial electrical equipment, and distribution systems for electric power and control systems.
You must be a detail-oriented, results-driven individual with a commitment to quality, accuracy, and the ability to organize and prioritize workloads to meet deadlines.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work in both a team environment and on self-directed tasks are essential.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Make recommendation for equipment changes that will improve reliability and efficiency.
- Develop designs and layouts of electrical systems.
- Write specifications for and requisition material and equipment.
- Perform liaison work with the Purchasing Department and Warehouse on equipment and materials involved in designs.
- Review drawings, specifications and purchase orders prepared by outside contractors and relating to site's electrical systems under the direction of manager, Controls & Electrical Engineering
- Oversee work of Contractor drafters on electrical work.
- Confer with Maintenance Department concerning new construction and maintenance problems.
- Make field inspections of new construction and maintenance projects.
- Confer with Non-electrical Disciplines regarding design projects.
- Check invoices of outside contractors.
- Make cost estimates on new construction and maintenance work.
- Participate in Process Safety Management (PSM) electrical areas of concern including area electrical classification, arc-flash studies and requirements for PPE, electrical relay coordination, and LOTO of electrical systems and equipment.
- Keep abreast of new technology as relates to electrical equipment and distribution systems.
- Direct contractors for work activities.
- Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
REQUIREMENTS :
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited four-year college or university
- 10+ years of electrical engineering experience in an industrial setting
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including respirators.
- Experience with power and power distribution equipment in an industrial environment
- Familiarity with relay coordination software and reliability methods
