Position Overview
Mass. Electric Construction Co. (MEC) is a subsidiary of the Kiewit Corporation, founded in 1928 in Boston, Massachusetts.
MEC pursues electrical projects that require a higher level of technical and logistical skill, participating actively in the growing industrial market.
Location
This position is based out of Waltham, MA.
Responsibilities
- Develop complete understanding of contract plans and specifications.
- Review, analyze and resolve design / construction problems, discrepancies and interferences with the design team, project leadership, Client, and contractors as required.
- Ensure that all project engineering activities comply with company and contract requirements and support the development and maintenance of the overall construction schedule.
- Provide technical support for construction effort including participation in design interpretation, application of construction methods, identification, resolution and documentation of design conflicts, constructability reviews, etc.
- Develop, implement, and administer document control program.
- Responsible for submittal tracking, project logs; all processing, coordination, and documentation as required to facilitate project.
- Represent the company during design review meetings and project coordination meetings.
- Assist project leadership with development of scopes of work to create and confirm subcontracts and vendor purchase orders.
- Oversee the development and periodic updates to the project master schedule.
- Oversee Contract Administration team, review revisions to drawings and contract documents for change of conditions.
- Prepare monthly cost projections and quarterly cash flow projections.
- Help drive the company's environmental health and safety programs at the project level.
- Manage and support the project team including direct reports and others as needed.
- Successfully perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field or equivalent experience and education in project or field engineering.
- 7+ years’ experience in the construction or engineering field.
- Proven abilities in leadership, communication, planning, organization, and mentoring.
- Ability to set standards of excellence in leadership, safety, quality, and productivity.
- Must demonstrate excellent team leadership and management skills.
- Proficiency in managing project engineering and related functions.
- Working knowledge of management systems : accounts payable / accounts receivable, materials control, estimating, job cost updates, and subcontracts.

Base Compensation : $138,000 / yr - $145,000 / yr
