Bessemer Trust is seeking an experienced labor and employment attorney in our New York City office to expand our in-house legal team.
Reporting to the General Counsel, the labor and employment attorney will advise the firm on employment law matters, mitigating risks and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and firm policies.

Key Responsibilities :
- Provide counsel on a broad range of labor, employment, and benefits-related matters, including recruiting, onboarding, training and development, DEI, performance management, separations, employee relations, regulatory compliance, complaints, investigations, dispute resolution, etc.
- Draft and review offer letters, separation documents, company policies, employee handbooks, and benefit plan-related documentation.
- Assist with compensation and benefit plan-related governance and support relevant committees.
- Monitor regulatory change relating to employment laws across federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
- Partner in the management and oversight of outside counsel engagements for applicable matters.
Qualifications :
- JD from an accredited law school, and member in good standing of the New York bar.
- 10+ years of employment law experience in a law firm and / or in-house; financial services industry experience a plus.
- Excellent analytical, written and oral communication skills.
- Prudent and practical judgment and high level of integrity.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
The base salary range for this position is $300K - $350K. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range.
In addition, this position may be eligible for a discretionary incentive-based bonus based on individual and company performance.
