As a Cook 2 at The Beverly Hills Hotel, your compensation will be $29.15 per hour.
What you'll do
A day in the life of our Cook-2’s it demands high levels of energy in order to keep up. They need consistency even though the days are never alike;
and creativity to tackle daily adventures. Listing all of the tasks that our Cook 2 accomplish would be lengthy but the list below is essential to know.
Our Cook-2s are responsible for preparing ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing. Washing and peeling fresh fruits and vegetables.
They also prepare and cook food during their day. This will include setting-up, cleaning and breaking down their work station.
They also wash and disinfect the kitchen areas including tables, tools, knives, and equipment to ensure our guests receives nothing but the best experience.
- Always have a notebook to write recipes, procedures and prep lists with.
- Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with other employees.
- Daily communication with Cook 1, Cook 1 Supervisor and Sous Chef. Discuss hotel status, special attention arrivals and / or special attention guests with dietary / allergic restrictions, kitchen status (equipment repairs, cleanliness, and special needs projects), kitchen morale, suggestions of ways to improve guests’ experiences through new food offerings and ideas to drive revenue.
- Proper communications with stewards to ensure kitchen is running at the highest possible sanitary standards.
- Constantly pushing self to learn more about food service through books, magazines and dining out.
- Ensure complete wash and sanitized kitchen is passed over to the next shift.
- Working knowledge of all stewarding processes and equipment’s.
- Daily line checks with team members ensuring quality and shelf life of product. Responsible for utilizing product through alternative outlets to minimize product loss.
- Closely monitor portion sizing to ensure consistency.
- Assist in maintaining all logs and checklists for State and Internal audits.
- Assist for creating new tasting / menu items for Private pool bar area.
- Assist for updating recipe books with proper procedures.
- Assist for protein / plate counts for service.
- Assist for (Preventative) Maintenance log in Chef’s office with engineering team.
- Thorough check of all walk-ins to ensure proper storage and rotation.
- Expert in plating using proper service ware.
- Responsible for shift line-ups, if Cook 1 (supervisor) is not available, informing F&B staff of specials and menu items no longer available.
- Ensure storerooms are in excellent condition, maintaining / delegating maintenance when necessary.
- Sometimes our guests have special requests involving dietary and / or allergy restrictions. Our Cook-2’s offer suggestions of ways to improve guests’ experiences.
The items shared are essential. However, to ensure consistency, our Cook-2s are provided with specifics on how we care for their department and our Hotel.
