IAN Volunteer and Community Education Project Coordinator, Americorps VISTA
The Immigration Advocates Network (IAN), a program of Pro Bono Net, is dedicated to expanding access to immigration legal resources and information through collaboration and technology.
IAN was created in 2007 by leading immigrants' rights organizations, to increase access to justice for low-income immigrants and strengthen the capacity of organizations serving them.
We create our own tools, build platforms for others, and work with partners to harness the power of technology and collective action to better support immigrants and their advocates.
Apply promptly! A high volume of applicants is expected for the role as detailed below, do not wait to send your CV.
Position :
As Volunteer and Community Education Project Coordinator, you will create, maintain, and promote a new online resource center.
You'll be working with partners and experts in the field to collect and create training materials. The resource center will improve access to justice by supporting communication and understanding of the law for pro bonos and volunteers and helping immigrants and their advocates solve immigration legal problems.
This is a remote (off-site) position, with an option to join our New York City office location when it reopens.
Responsibilities :
- The VISTA will continue to build an online resource center to help pro bono lawyers, volunteers and community members understand immigration law and changes.
- You will work with the legal director at IAN, within Pro Bono Net, to identify the best getting-started resources and trainings, post site content, track and share information on changes in immigration law and policy, identify gaps in information, and create trainings and materials to share.
This includes working on webinars, podcasts, flyers, and social media.
You will design outreach materials, and learn how to convey legal information to new advocates and the community. The primary goal of the project is to welcome pro bonos and volunteers into the field, and help them develop immigration legal expertise through basic trainings and information.
